Challenge: can you land on a train?

Few weeks ago, watching a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9WrZs8tLag) from Philstyle, I had the impression he was about to land on a train, wrong impression.. still, I started thinking if that was even possible.
So I put up a simple mission and started trying it out, at first it was real trains, now its just flat platforms behind the train
But I can't get the plane down without crashing it..

So I thought to launch a challenge and see if anybody can make it =)

Soooo...can you? =)


Mission info:
The train will start at your left, wait for it to speed up and get into the forest line, from that point on it will go pretty much on a straight line
You can see the train go into the forest from your take off position if you wish to fast forward or wait before taking off

Im not sure if the modelling will allow it without judging it to be a crash though.....

havnt tried it, but it may be possible if your in TigerMoth and you set the wind right so you can basically stop airborne with very little airspeed... ill have to try it out.. but im just getting over "man flu" and my senses are not quite back yet :P

I dowloaded the file but it always shows as a txt file and i cant save it as a mis file.

I don't think it will work because the game often just explodes your aircraft when hitting any object.

It doesn't show in the FMB, I tried to speed up the train but there's no way to do that

open it up in a notepad, save as, select save as "all files (*.*)", and save it as .mis

I thought about that, but in my slowmo attempt it always exploded after crashing, for example after a wheel went inbetween the platforms and the nose would go down into the platform in the front
tried to place the plane on the train, but the train starts at 0 speed, while the plane can't be set at 0 speed, unless if you select take off but then it puts the plane on the runway

I can't even land properly on a runway, so a train is out of the question!!! :doh:

Honestly I know it's almost impossible, I don't know for sure if the game code causes the crash, but who knows maybe someone with the right stick handling can do this ^_^
I crashed so many times it was pointless to keep trying

It was pointless to start trying! :-P

It might be similar to trying to land on a pier in a harbor (Deal, Dover, Folkstone, etc.) I just crash through it whenever I pointlessly try! :wf:

However, If it is possible, it's something to include on the Air Races map... They can modify a lot of crash triggers, those boys can!

Thats good news!... wonder what the chances are of modifying the ground and ocean collisions? i have a lot of problems with the ground :D

I can definitely confirm the pier thing, the pane just falls through the surface unfortunately. I spent an afternoon trying to land on various parts of the landscape and all but the ground seem to give the same result. Haven't tried the train yet but I'll try to give it a go today and post a video.

I tried to make a video but the track kept corrupting. Anyway, my Tiggy explodes if I land on the flatbed cars, if I hit the side of the train or the big fuel tank car it reacts normally but those flatbeds are coated in nitro-glycerine Tiger Moth repellant for me.

So no, I can't do it but maybe someone else can.
