This isn't a thread to discuss the merits of either flight sim. I am posting this to say thanks to Jason for his kind words regarding our work and what the future progress could be. Audio only.

I am positively surprised about this. For Jason BoS is his busines and from that view I would completely understand if he went to africa exactly to compete against TF. So it's very good to hear that he is giving TF it's place. : )

And if he says that for now he doesn't have problems with TF, it might be a good moment to talk and see how both sims can move along together?

I am very pleased to hear that they (for now) don't try to start a cometition.

As far as I know the situation, there are three groups of players. Those who play exclusively CloD, those who play exclusively BoS/M and a rather small group that uses both. I don't think many of the guys in the first two groups would be willing to 'change sides' (as they see it). So, a competition in the same theaters of war would not bring really more players/customers, to any of the sims but it would most probably hurt both.

Anyway, at present there seems no interest for BoS/M to expand anywhere into the West. Battle of France, Sicily, Italy, D-Day and Bombing of Germany is a LOT that's left over.
Still, I will dream on about flying a Ki-43 in TF quality. :):):)

To be honest, a Pacific campaign will be a lot more profitable for them as it captures the American market so well. Glad clear heads are prevailing and with both sims living harmoniously together our future looks bright. :)

I agree the Pacific is a good choice for them. Unfortunately it will be quite awhile I believe before TF makes it to that theater..even though I would love to see it. I dont own BOS.. but After hearing Jason talk about TF and the future..I'm more inclined than ever to possibly purchase it. Thanks Jason for the kind words..it's nice to see things going in that direction. The Sim world needs both of these games to succeed for the future of flight Sims to come. I'm excited to see the Pacific making its way back ...should be a good ride. Did I hear somewhere that they weren't going to continue the pay to play option or paid add-on packages? Maybe I'm wrong

They will have paid addons like untill now, they have to eat if not they better fined other job and work on game for free in hobby time :)
Althought in conversation some one asked for 2 free airplane version of game like in RoF, and dev says maybe when they get more airplanes in game and then maybe they do it as free demo, so maybe this is what you picked up Ribbs

Im glad they go PTO, they need to work faster :)

Speaking as one who plays and likes both I'm glad to hear this. I'm also really excited by the direction they are taking BoS. New theaters, new planes, tacview support, VR, woot woot!

It seems the news about the death of combat flight sims is greatly exagerated.

TF will not be going to the Pacific... or the East Front.

We have more than enough playgrounds to build for with the Channel/NW Europe and the Med.

From my perspective, I am glad to hear that 1C/777 will be making Pacific Sim Fans happy with a expansion there. Carrier ops are always a challenge. :flying2:

And a Kuban/Crimea expansion will bring in one of the most interesting theaters on the East Front what with all the lendlease planes, the introduction of naval warfare, etc. etc. Very good choice in my opinion.

I think everyone should think of all these new directions as a positive... good for the community and providing lots of choice and excitement for Flight Sim fans. :salute:

I think the whole thing works out well for Cliffs of Dover.

The easiest next one if it comes about for TF would be maybe the Syrian campaign considering the Vichy French with dewoitines already under construction and the early p40 kittyhawk or tomahawk.

Only roughly knowing the background of what happened to CloDs development in the end it seems a shame that the source code isn't released to TF under some sort of licence as it helps turn a profit for CloD sales. Even though a small and niche market its basically free development of a game by enthuisiasts who with every update like TF5 could make more sales with very limited liabilities to the owner.

The level headed response that Jason Williams has made will certainly attract more than deter. Not owning BOS/M I would certainly look seriously at buying and playing it and see what the pacific version is like. Its often better and smarter to work with and alongside communities rather than harm or divide them.

Not being familiar with BOS/M I can't comment on the game itself but its exciting to see what can be done with the diamond in the rough (CloD) and to see other games and sims being developed in this genre.

I am impress and happy with the direction of BoS/BOM under Jason helm. His attitude, maturity and transparency toward this/our community can only be good for all of us.

The future looks good

Combat Flight Sims are wonderful...they take real patients and skill...and if you really want to get immersed you're bound to get an enjoyable history course from the other players. It will be much more detailed than you would ever get in a High School classroom and ten times more fun

Enough to make me reload BOS after an initial "meh" (now in 64bit with everything unlocked??) and look to purchase BOM and BOK in the near future.

Distinctly different from clod and i miss as much as i say "oooo" to but a nice (if not sometimes baffling) change.

I would be all over that like flies on pooh. Corsairs, Hellcats and Bearcats oh my!

I would choke on all the things I dislike about BoS FM andfly the piss out of those a/c. The Japanese would be stupid fun as well.

My favorite part was about the community and looking at TF as legitimate. I've got 1350hrs of extreme frustration and joy with this mod.
Makes me want to fire up BoS again and see what they've been up to.

Cheers TF.
