So.....the update disaster has had me out of playing CLOD now since it destroyed my installation. My goal tonight is to get it working again. In the mean time I will also be looking for a new desk. Currently I have a 15 dollar card table that came with four folding chairs....It has served remarkably well but I am in bad need of an upgrade. Please post pics of your gaming set ups. The desk I buy needs to last me forever. Basically I want something with room for the peripherals joystick pedals ect, an extra monitor, and a bit of room to write roll dice....play DND... I needs Ideas.

incidentally.....anyone have any info on extension for a saitek x55 rhino......I've seen this

But that seems like too much work.

This desk seemed nice. but my main problem here is the mouse and joy stick placement. I fly with my right hand on the stick and my left operates the mouse if I'm manning the tailgunner.

im using an old oak dining table with one end leaf extended...

with that i have a three legged stool (im not kidding)

rudder pedals beneath with a spacer made of 18mm blockboard between them and the wall...

(doesn't really warrant a photo.)

Total cost (excluding pedals)

£0.00

though the stool is likely to get an upgrade soon.

(but not another leg dammit !... I'm not made of money )

I use a solid core interior door mounted on a pair of used bedroom end tables with drawers. I bought a pair of table legs at the home improvement store to stabilize the rear since I chose a wide door. I don't think the entire thing cost $50US. Don't buy a hollow door because it will flex under the weight. It's ugly, but how do you make a gaming rig look good? :dazed:

Well...since the wife wouldn't really like a full scale spit sim pit in the room (yet).
I'm building a bombardier-ish desk for mine with some coats of varnish. It'll extend around the room so my wife can use it for sewing (major selling point....hehe). Not sure if I'll get too fancy with it using pulleys and zinc-chromated sheetmetal, but I'm trying to come up with a way to make it unobtrusive when put away. Here's some rough sketches of what I'm thinking of.

A google search for "b-17 bombardier station" has some nice color ideas. Thankfully, the desks they used were simple, so the look shouldn't be all that hard to achieve.

This attachment is a picture of my "Big, Cheap Desk" It shows the door desktop and the end table pedestals. The two rear stabilizer legs are hidden behind the end tables. Those screens have been replaced with a single big TV but for scale purposes, each monitor is 27.4 inches wide. The throttle and mouse rest on "Slide-in" shelves I made from scrap particle board. Decontamination is required before re-entry to the habitable parts of the house. :getaway:

I have no desk , I find them not suitable. I rather if I was you use something attached to the chair or obutto (http://obutto.com/gaming-cockpits/)

I use a floor mounted joystick but if you got my point that is not needed.

I use a small room and attach things where I want them

No...

My wife said I can't have the milk maid as well as the stool.. it's one or the other... we simply don't have room... yadda yadda....

I figured I'd be able to concentrate better using the stool.:D

Some work in progress. Got the table made and varnished last weekend.

The desk extends down the wall to the door for my wife's sewing machine. She said, "Oh, how romantic!"
