London Ruft (East) V3c (Blue Briefing)
5 Nov 1940
Winds light from the west
Men and women of the Axis forces.
In the next 24 - 48 hours we will begin our offensive to drive Allied forces from southern England and encircle London. Once London is encircled the Allies will almost certainly sue for peace and the war will be over. However there is much work to be done and the next 4 hours are critical to the success of this operation.
Pls note that not all targets need to be destroyed to roll the map - refer below for further details. Pls also refer to the ATAG forums for target deck information.
Main Briefing commences here.......
The number 1 Axis Force priority is to protect our ships bringing Panzers to England and protect our Panzer forces already in England. These Panzers are vital to the success of the offensive and if sufficient numbers are not available the offensive cannot occur.
These ships are located south and east of Eastbourne and are heading north east bound for the Dover area. To protect these ships the following operations are to be conducted:
(a) Bomber forces: Axis bombers are to degrade Allied bomber force bases and prevent their use for Allied attacks on our ships and on our Panzer forces already in England. Our targeting branch has concluded that only a small of Ju-88 sorties are required to disable these fields until after the arrival of our ships. Key Allied bomber bases are at Gavesend and Willmington.
Bomber base frequencies (primary/secondary) Littlestone 298, Lympne 296, Oye Plage 318 (includes Lorenz Landing System), and Boulogne 306.
(b) Bomber and Jabo forces:A small force of Royal Navy corvettes was last located in BC29 and are believed to be headed towards our convoy in an attempt to prevent the Panzers from being offload in Dover. Bomber and Jabo forces are to interedict this convoy and prevent it from closing with our convoy.
(c) Fighter force: Axis fighter forces are to protect the convoys from Allied attacks and protect Axis bomber and jabo forces as they attack Allied airfields and the Royal Navy force. Axis fighter forces are to also protect our Panzer reserves located at AU24.5.
The number 2 Axis force priority is destruction of Allied tank force reserves. The Allies are believed to have 2 tank reserves which have been located at: AQ25.1 and AN22.1. The following operations are to be conducted to achieve this objective:
(a) Bomber and jabo forces: Destruction of tank reserves at these locations. It is expected that around 50% destruction of these forces at each location will be required to neutralise the threat posed by these forces. Well-aimed attacks by 2-3 Ju-88s should be sufficient to achieve this level of destruction.
(b) Fighter forces: Protection of bombers and jabos attacking these targets.
Number 3 priority is the destruction of Allied lines of communication (LOC) nodes which are as follows:
(a) Railyards: AG24.9 Basingstoke Railyard, AP24.9 - Sevenoaks Railyard, and AP22.6 - Crowborough Railyard.
(b) Bridges: AR24.4 - Tunbridge Wells bridge #1, AQ24.6 - Tunbridge Wells bridge #2, AR25.2 - Tonbridge bridge, AQ23.5 - Crowbridge bridge, AP21.5 - Lewes bridge, AN23.4 - Horsham bridge.
Bomber, jabo and fighter forces are to attacks these target.
The number 4 Axis priority is to protect our key LOC nodes between the ports and the build up areas where our forces will be staged prior to the commencement of the offensive. It is likely that the Allies have identified these key nodes and we expect attacks to commence on the following targets soon:
(a) Railyards: Attacks are expected on some or all of the following railyards; AV23.8 - Ashford Railyard, and AW23.3 - Folkestone Railyard.
(b) Bridges: Attacks on some or all of the following bridges are expected;
AU27.5 - Queenborough bridge, AV24.5 - Ashford bridge, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #1, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #2, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #3, and AT24.7 - Staplehurst bridge.
If we can successfully achieve these tasks then our offensive is likely to succeed and the war will be over soon. If the Allies can prevent the offensive from commencing then we will have to delay our offensive until after winter, by which time their forces will likely to have become much more stronger and the success of our offensive will be less assured.
Gameplay notes - Not all of the above targets need to be destroyed to win the map for the Axis. Blue side has to score 295 points and this can be achieved by successfully attacking a variety of targets. Each target set has different values assigned; a tank park is worth 100, a bomber base is 40 (and Eastchurch_, a railyard is 20, bridges and ships 10.
Ground forces added near Battle ( AS 25.2) - Defend the bridges!

London Ruft (East) V3c (Red Briefing)
5 Nov 1940
Winds light from the west
Men and women of the Allied forces.
Sometime in the next 24 - 48 hours the Axis force will probably begin their offensive in an attempt to push our forces out of southern England. If they succeed in doing so and are able to subsequently encircle London then it is likely that our Government will surrender and the war will be over. If we can delay the offensive until winter comes then we will be able to strengthen our forces and possibly conduct a counter-offensive in early Spring 1941.
Axis ships carrying Panzers are currently enroute England and the offensive is expected to occur following their arrival. A small fleet of Royal Navy corvettes is currently located in BC29 and these vessels are steaming towards the Axis ships and will close with them to prevent them unloading their cargo.
Pls note that not all targets need to be destroyed to roll the map - refer below for further details. Pls also refer to the ATAG forums for target deck information.
Main briefing starts here.....
The number 1 Allied force priority is the destruction of ships bringing Panzers to England and the destruction of Panzers already ashore in the Axis-force occupied areas of southern England. If these Panzers can be destroyed then it is unlikely that the Axis offensive will occur.
These ships were last located south and east of Eastbourne heading north east bound for the Dover area. Recent bad weather has caused the convoy to break up with some ships still in convoy and others scattered in the area. To attack these ships the following operations are to be conducted:
(a) Bomber forces: Allied bombers are to attack these ships as soon as possible and prevent any Panzers from being offloaded onto English soil.
Bomber forces are also to attack Axis bomber bases and prevent their use by the Axis to mount attacks on our tank parks and other targets. Axis bomber bases are located at: Lympne and Littlestone. (require 3 Blens)
(b) Fighter force: Allied fighter forces are to protect the bombers conducting attacks on Axis shipping, protect the Royal Navy corvette fleet from air attack and protect our own tank reserves which are located at AQ25.5and AO23.1
The number 2 Allied force priority is destruction of Axis tank force reserves. The Axis is believed to have 1 tank reserve located at AT23.8. The following operations are to be conducted to achieve this objective:
(a) Bomber forces: Allied bombers are to attack Axis tank reserves. Well-aimed attacks by 3-6 Blenheims on these tank parks should achieve sufficient destruction to prevent their effective use in the coming offensive. It is expected that around 50% destruction of these forces at each location will be required to neutralise the threat posed by these forces.
(b) Fighter forces: Protection of bombers conducting these attacks.
The number 3 Allied force priority is to attack Axis force's key lines of communication (LOC) which will be used to bring forward their forces. The key nodes are as follows:
(a) Railyards: AV23.8 - Ashford Railyard, and AW23.3 - Folkestone Railyard.
(b) Road Bridges: AU27.5 - Queenborough bridge, AV24.5 - Ashford bridge, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #1, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #2, AS25.2 - Battle bridge #3, and AT24.7 - Staplehurst bridge.
Allied bombers are to strike these targets with red fighters providing protection.
Number 4 priority is the protection of our own LOCs which are likely to come under attack by Axis forces. These include:
(a) Railyards: AG24.9 Basingstoke Railyard, AP24.9 - Sevenoaks Railyard, and AP22.6 - Crowborough Railyard.
(b) Bridges: AR24.4 - Tunbridge Wells bridge #1, AQ24.6 - Tunbridge Wells bridge #2, AR25.2 - Tonbridge bridge, AQ23.5 - Crowbridge bridge, AP21.5 - Lewes bridge.
If we can successfully achieve these tasks then the Axis offensive will either not occur or will fail and winter will provide us with more time to strengthen our defences and prepare for an Allied counter-offensive in early Spring.
Gameplay notes - Not all of the above targets need to be destroyed to win the map for the Allies. Red side has to score 270 points and this can be achieved by successfully attacking a variety of targets. Each target set has different values assigned; each tank park is worth 100, a bomber base is 40, a railyard is 20, bridges and ships 10.
