If you haven't already tried the download section of this forum (found under the title 'Downloads' at the top of the forum page), it is here:

WOW what a link !! i didnt know assisbiz had a BF section , i was always busy with his USN skins . I am used to BMP for IL2 and skin myself using Gimp 2.8 . Since you are a skinner as well maybe you can help me , i dont know how to unmirror numbers and letters in Gimp 2.8. I did an Emel Helldiver but on one side the numbers and letters code flip and i dont know how to unmirror. I went on the Gimp chat forum but not one reply and there is nothing on Youtube . I did ask at the usual Il2 sites but they say you have to try cause they use Photoshop .

Sorry, I don't use gimp.
You can mirror images using the free program Irfanview, but it doesn't use different layers, so you would end up with a jpeg. You could always paste it into gimp and cut away the parts of the jpeg you don't want, but it might be a bit messy ... maybe?

http://www.irfanview.com/

In the Irfanview 'image' menu chose 'horizontal flip'.

You might also try looking for a 'horizontal flip' command in Gimp.

You can mirror images in Photoshop Elements too, if you have that. I think the horizontal flip command might be in the 'transform' menu.

Google helped:

In Gimp it's in the 'transform' menu, as 'Horizontal Flip':
https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-layer-flip-horizontal.html

If that doesn't work try 'vertical flip'. It will depend on the orientation of the text which one you need.

i tried all these options previously and the result is the skin template corrupts in game . it does that only with certain templates i was told . For the Helldiver i am using 0-1-8 and no letter codes for all models for IL2 mod . I'm a beginner here pls explain to me how to label the skin files i download to place in the default folders . In mod copies of IL2 we take the name for the new skin and folder from the new aircraft Air INI title .

Which game are you referring to now?
IL2: I forget how it is for IL2 (Forgotten Battles/1946 series), but yes, you need BMP files for that game, I think. Someone else might be able to help, but you'll need to explain the problem a bit more. Regarding 0-1-8 and Air INI I'm not sure what you mean. I think you might be referring to replacing skins within missions. You could try asking about it in a section of the forum that deals with offline/missions.

CoD: I don't think there are any naming restrictions for CoD. As long as it is 2048x2048 and a jpg file it should work. Use the name of the skin it already has when you download it.
If you want to change a skin in a mission I imagine you open your mission in Full Mission Builder and change it there (click on the aircraft and it will be amongst the properties, I think it is under the far right tab of the small window that opens). Click 'save' in the FMB menu at top left of the page.

This thread will tell you where to put your downloaded CoD skins.

IL2 1946 MODED.

hello,
by using 0-1-8 numbers on my Helldiver i avoided the problem of mirror effect ,all other numbers or any letter was appearing flipped the wrong way when filling the second section of the skin template . Any attempt to flip horizontally resulted in corruption of the template .

the air ini is the air file of the aircraft you are adding to your moded IL2 1946 . from that you use the name to create the skin folder and skin names enabling them to appear for that aircraft . that file is kept in a folder called STD where all the entries are made for other objects . thanks for support and links.

I think the INI file probably has to do with the mission. The mission will retrieve that file from your skin folder, so it need to be there first ..for the skin to work in-game.

IL2:
Find out which folder you need to add your skin to in IL2. Put it there, with a reference to it in your mission and it should work (as long as you have that reference to it in that mission file).

I'm not too familiar with how IL2 works. I lost some interest in editing missions etc. after the game was no longer supported (it is still a great game though, and I still play it. Thanks for ever Oleg!!). If anyone else can give advice then please do.
