Hi guys! First post here.

I decided to install this great sim again after being disappointed with its first incarnation and after having upgraded my rig. The mods really revived it and I'm loving it.

My main purpose will be to create online coop style missions for my group. We currently fly il-2 1946 with mods and we use a lot the moving dogfight server method where you can respawn at base when shot down or return land and respawn to come up with a fresh plane. I have seen how respawn points work in the FMB thanks to the great posts and tutorial here.

I have also seen that there is an RR function in the ATAG server. How would it be possible to implement such a functionality to my own server when I'm hosting a mission for my group?

Hi Dimus and welcome to the forum. Glad u are enjoying the sim. Quite a lot have been down the same path as u and have found their way back to CloD now that it is in so much better shape.
The refuel/rearm feature is something that has been implemented on the ATAG server by those who are savvy with 0's and 1's and isn't part of the Mod patches. I have no idea how it is done so can't help u out there.
I think it is implemented at the server level and not done thru map scripting but I could be wrong.
You will find different servers offer different options depending on the objectives of the server hosts and the talents of the hosts.
The Storm of War and TWC servers being 2 great examples where other options are implemented for the needs of the communities they serve.
I make my own maps too but just use the standard exit the aircraft and respawn to get a new plane a' la 1946 style.
Have fun with the map making.

Thanks! No problem with RR, respawning works fine for our purpose anyway. I'll keep studying the tutorials to also better understand the workings of airports and spawn points.

Welcome to the community and forums dimus ...~S~

Many of us came from '46 to CLOD...I spent 8 years or so flying '46 on Hyperlobby almost daily in those days...A big difference in changing over was using TrackIR...I bought TrackIR and had it sitting on the shelf for the last couple years of my '46 experience as it just didn't feel right using it for that...But once I installed CLOD I used it from day one and couldn't be without it now...

===================================

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve anyway..

Windows Management Guide (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3273)

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

Thanks for the warm welcome Lewis!

I've already scanned most of the great forum you have here and most if all of my basic questions about the sim are answered. You have a wealth of info and helpful people.

I am a real life private pilot with also some tailwheel experience. Flightsims are the way to fly exciting planes that I can not do for real. I am also very active in FSX/P3D scenery development and beta tester for two payware aircraft developers.

I am a member of small online group. We mainly fly Il-2 in all available theaters only in coop missions against the AI. I am on the process of trying to get the rest of the group to also discover and appreciate CLOD as at least our BoB scenario mission platform. For this I am trying to understand the FMB and create some sample missions that I can use to convince them. We have and use our own TS3 server. If that does not work I may try your servers.

I am really looking forward to the Tobruk map and new planes from Team Fusion.

OK, I have another question. I have created a simple mission with an airfield and spawn point at Hawkinge and saved it in the Dogfight folder. I have an incoming raid of AI Ju-87s. I start the server, load the mission, start it and spawn in a Spitfire. My friends can also join successfully. I take off finish off my ammo and land back. How can I get a fresh plane so that I can take off again and continue the fight? The spawn point is not active if I have not died. If I die, I can indeed use the spawn point and spawn back in a fresh plane. If you're alive, you're stuck with the plane you have.

The only way I managed to do this so far is to have idle parked planes on the airfield. This way after I land I can jump into them, start them up and go.

In Il-2 you could end the flight and hit refly, and you could select any of the available planes on the airbase. Is there such a function here?

Hi Dimmus,
In this situation u hit the escape key while are still in the plane u have just landed and then clik on the flag (British or German depending on which side u are flying) at the top. It will ask u if u want to leave the current aircraft.
U will then be able to clik on the airfield and then pick a plane again. Be aware that the plane u have just left will likely remain on the airfield and be "taken over" by AI, ie u may see it start up and taxi around until it despawns.

I'm sure I've tried that but it did not seem to allow me to access the spawn point, only planes, either parked or flying AI. I could not spawn a new plane. This is why I created the parked idle planes. I'll try again.

It almost sounds like you don't have "max planes" set to 1 in the airfield settings, but I see above that your friends can spawn in so it might not be the case. Are you using server commander (aka Watchdog) or are you using the lobby/server in the main gui to run missions. I seem to remember there being some subtle differences in the way the game behaves from one method to the other, but not sure. Do you have some examples of M/P missions to try out, just to see how they are set up and if they work? If no other missions work the way you want then it could be something in settings. Anyway, just chucking ideas out, hope you get it sorted!

Update: What Torian suggested works great. I was just not hitting the flag after the ESC. Thank a lot guys! Case closed.
