I have received confirmation of access to the Track Editor Tool for external views but have a problem selecting the file I want to modify. When I select the browse button It goes to the desktop files and not to the trk files I have saved in CLOD. I have located the trk files in < user\mydocuments\1C Soft Club\il2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\records > and tried processing it and obtained a download file <out1825447366.trk>. However it is not in the track records when I return to CLOD. The file is in my downloads file but cannot be opened. What am I doing wrong please?

Hi diggers33, you just have to copy/move the <out...trk> file into the folder \Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\records - then it should be available to view in the game.

As Bondi says..its a case of moving the files around....Once it has downloaded you have to then put it back in the place where you got it from here..:

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\records

Its best to 'rename' it too so you will recognise it more easily before you put it in the 'records' folder...

You will basically have 2 files....the original one that you uploaded and a new on that has been through the Track Editor process...Only the one that has been through the Track Editor process will you have options to different views...Also you will have to make sure that when you play it after it has loaded check the boxes 'Edit Time' and importantly 'Edit Views'....If you don't you won't be able to have the different views when you play the track...Also make sure you know what keys you dedicated to change the views and such...Again, otherwise you won't be able to change the views...

I would also check the box 'Icons'....this will show you how close you were to all the enemy aircraft you didn't even know were there when you flew...Its quite frightening!

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!...

Diggers -Here is my tutorial on how to process files. There are different ways of recording the final product but this is the way I do it. Hope it helps clear up what Lewis and Bondi are trying to convey. I speak softly in the vid so you may have to turn it up. Hope it helps and Cheers.

Be warned, the track editor is not perfect and sometimes the download will be corrupted and unusable. This does not happen that often but does happen. Don't freak out if you lose a track to corruption. It is disappointing but not the end of the world.

There is also no rewind capability so you may have to view the track from the beginning several times to cull out the shots you want. The track editor in its current form, although not perfect, is better than nothing.

Lastly, it may take hours or days to finish a movie. Stick with it, you will be happy you did.

Best,

ZIM

You might need to disable "Desktop Composition" for the file open dialog to show up.

Hey Digger, with the few videos I have downloaded and watched I would certainly have to agree with Lew on this:

"I would also check the box 'Icons'....this will show you how close you were to all the enemy aircraft you didn't even know were there when you flew...Its quite frightening!"

When I have watched myself flying, I always wonder how I missed so many planes buzzing around my head. Maybe not close, but a lot of "dots" i should have seen........ Frightening indeed!!whaa
