View Full Version : Flying Boat Take off and landing

Trying tobuild a mission with a Sunderland taking off and landing in the channel. If the waypoint is set to Take off and the Sunderland placed in the channel. It crashes as soon as the mission starts. Is there some trick to get it to Take off ?

If I start it airborne and set a landing waypoint. It takes forever and does a series of close approaches then at about 10m pitches up then has another go. After about 20 of these evolutions it eventually lands. so again any trick needed here to get a smooth approach and water landing ?

No way, is broken.

The only that sometimes take off is Walrus, but do this with gear down reason of the sometimes. :D

Sunderland sometimes is able to land, but need half of the channel space.

Add to this that take-off and landing zones put that airbase boards in middle of sea. :doh:

Event that jolly-boat (various size) is broken, some think that are submarine, some think that are planes.

CloD need a huge size broom and rug for all this things. :-P

1Lokos is right. Flying boat landing & takeoff has been broken from the legacy game. :grrr: The best that can be done is to air-spawn over the flyplane base & de-spawn the plane using scripts when it returns (but not lands) over the base.

Maybe it crashes because u have take off on sea parts that are not sea ( sea bug on map ) , then sunderland explodes on spawn. Or if its to heavy he cant stay in air after take off.

Try this mission all good on take off, i placed static ships so u can see where is runway when he try land. He makes turns so he loses sped and gets in proper position for landing, thats normal.

When he is landing he tryes to abort as lift is to mutch or his logic is wrong and he brakes one engine, but is teleprted at spawn point made close to tanker in base.

If u change speed and hight parametars on landing waypoint, from whats in this mission, then he will not land at runway but he will normaly land without flaps on sea and just go strait never stop probably trying to turn to runway.

This parametars in mission on landing waypoint makes him land on runway, but maybe lift from down flaps is to mutch so he trys to land and then abort when close to middle of runway and not posible to land, but he is to low and he hits watter when makes turn and force lands.
Check in FMB and play it there with outside views enabled and u will see.
