Well here goes!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOHjagp4L4U&feature=youtu.be

Statement from Team Fusion

First of all, Team Fusion would like to thank 1C ONLINE GAMES and in particular Nikolay Baryshnikov and Jason Williams for their generosity in signing off on this preliminary Agreement in Principle. The agreement will to allow Team Fusion the opportunity to gain access to the Source Code and partner with 1C. The goal is to develop and refine the original IL-2 STURMOVIK CLIFFS OF DOVER and then to take it further, towards new Map Theaters and Aircraft sets. 1C is one of the few remaining online gaming companies willing to actively support the Flight Simulation genre. They invested considerably in the development of CLIFFS OF DOVER in order to continue the legacy of the original IL-2. Now thanks to 1C's recognition of Team Fusion's work, the CLIFFS OF DOVER game engine will move forward again. :woohoo:

TEAM FUSION will be reborn as TEAM FUSION SIMULATIONS. We will be a separate company from 1C Online Games. We will be in partnership with them as an independent developer, with 1C Online Games marketing and distributing the Releases we provide to them. 1C will not be investing in our company, or paying any salaries or contracts, instead, the partnership will revolve around a revenue sharing agreement based on the total sales of our Releases. TFS will live or die depending on the number of games sold. Without a good product and the support of the community we will not succeed.

We are still the same group of die-hard Flight Sim enthusiasts... now we have a chance to do our work with the proper tools in our hands.

We would like to remind the community Flight Sims are a very small niche in the overall online gaming market, and we should all consider offering our support to those gaming companies like 1C who are willing to take a risk on such a small potential market. BATTLE OF STALINGRAD, BATTLE OF MOSCOW and the upcoming BATTLE OF KUBAN are fine examples of the genre, and worthy inheritors of the IL-2 STURMOVIK tradition.
TF's next word of thanks is to our wonderful community. You are the people who kept us in the game, whose cheers and compliments fed our enthusiasm. Without the dedication of the many volunteers who did everything from creating 'how to' videos, to creating missions, to organizing online and real life events, we would not have had the chance to be where we are. Our most heartfelt thanks to all. You guys are the BEST!
Now we are sure people are very enthusiastic about this announcement, but we would have to caution everyone this is only the first step. We do have every confidence we will be able to sign a final legal agreement with 1C, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The negotiations to this point were tough and businesslike. But thanks to the good faith of both parties, we have an agreement in principle. Team Fusion is also in the process of incorporating, and that is an extremely complex undertaking, with our membership being from around the world. :flying2:

We also have to add a word of warning to those who think this agreement will speed up the arrival of TF 5.0. While we gain many advantages from our official status, TFS is also now held to higher standards. A North African expansion without a P-40 might be ok for an amateur group to release, now that Team Fusion is operating as a professional organization, we have to acknowledge a Desert Campaign without a P-40 is just not a Desert Campaign. And that is just one of a number of additions or refinements we will need to add to TF 5.0. There has also been the fact these negotiations have introduced a level of uncertainty into the equation. Many members stopped work... because all the many hours they might put in working without the Source Code could be reduced to minutes if we did have access to it. So that slowed down work on TF 5.0. Finally, even when we have access, the Source Code is still a very complex and detailed piece of code, which will take some time to understand. After so many years, it is unclear whether the original manuals and support documents are still available.
The following is a general outline of the plan moving forwards.

1. Team Fusion incorporates as TEAM FUSION SIMULATIONS. 1C and TFS sign the final legal agreement. We expect this will happen in January. TFS receives access to the Source Code.

2. Within a few weeks of the signing, TFS releases a single-install compilation of all Team Fusion work up to TF 4.312 as a 'Community Mod'. This package will be hosted on Steam as an optional update for all original game owners.

3. Within a number of months, TFS releases a new edition of the original game. This will have all the current TF 4.312 'mods', but this time these work-arounds and adaptions will be properly written to the Source Code, and the game will also be upgraded to DX11. In addition, we will provide a number of 'extras' over what is currently in TF 4.312. We can't say what these will be at this point, but we are sure the community will appreciate them. This 'new' game will replace the old one on Steam, and will be a free upgrade to those who already own CLIFFS.

4. With a completion date of 2017, work on TF 5.0 will proceed. As mentioned, we will be adding the P-40 to the aircraft already promoted in our TF updates to this point. There will be other additions, although the details will have to wait for our regular updates to reveal.

---
Team Fusion Simulations will at some point be moving to a new official website, complete with forums and the progress of our work. The details of this are still being negotiated. :IAG:

---
Finally, we think it is appropriate the Community is finally introduced to the people who made Team Fusion possible. Up to this point we have let ourselves remain anonymous, now we can be a little more upfront with our key members. :salute:

Our first mention is for ATAG_Bliss. John Bliss is not an actual modder, he doesn't work with the files, but he did contribute something which was incredibly important... when we were all starting out, he generously offered the members of TF a secure home with ATAG. It cannot be overstated how important it was for us to have a place to meet, discuss our work and exchange files and information. Everyone knows Bliss holds very strong opinions and ideas... not as many know he has a BIG heart. Thanks John.

ATAG_Colander: Even those in Team Fusion still have a nagging question in their minds... Could Colander possibly... really be... an odd but brilliant Alien life form? One thing for certain, he has other-worldly coding skills. The 'Core.dll' of Team Fusion.

Mysticpuma: Our impulsive, mercurial and wildly enthusiastic promotions guy. The man who makes Flight Simmers weak in the knees with anticipation for his update videos.

VO101_Tom: The head of our 3D department, the nicest guy in Team Fusion, always ready to help out junior modelers with advice, always willing to go on Teamspeak for extended seminars. Also the 3D modeler for ships and planes, including the 109E7, Bf-108 as well as the cockpit for the 109F.

Salmo: A quiet but steady presence... Brings our maps to life with texture, detail and incredible perseverance.

ATAG_Slipstream: Our sound wizard, quietly working in the background, deep in the sound machine, creating aural symphonies of engines, props and weapons.

TheVino3: Our visual effects guy. When things go 'boom' and your mind goes "Ahhhh..." ...that's Vino. Also a sound contributor.

ATAG_Wolf: Ships and Import/Export. When you see a Battleship swivel its guns and fire a broadside or watch the controls and gauges in the new Beaufighter cockpit work, that is courtesy of Wolf.

Major_Setback: The "Skins_R_Us" for TF. Working tirelessly to create those historically accurate paintschemes you really appreciate.

Kling: A real life pilot with an eye for detail, perfect for getting those landscape and atmospheric textures just right.

Jano_D: A 3D artist par excellence who has done ship and plane work.. just one of his contributions... the beautiful Wellington cockpit.

Kashiide: Another 3D genius... incredibly fast... Beaufighter and Gladiator fans will enjoy his cockpits... as well as his many other creations.

Spiritus_Mortem: The only guy we've met who could write his PhD and learn from scratch the intricacies of 3D modeling... Simultaneously! Author of the Martlet.

ATAG_yotheguy: Another self-taught 3D modeler... started small with vehicles, finished big with a cockpit. CR42 flyers will love his work.

Kopperdrake: What would we be without Hurricanes in the Desert? And we can promise you, there will be lots of Hurris... courtesy this 3D artist.

Danperin: Human skins... artwork, logos, whatever is on the menu, Danperin is an enthusiastic contributor.

JG4_Bendwick: Working hard on our 109F external model. Yes, we know you want it now!

Members on temporary hiatus or semi-retired:

Ivank: His real life experience in F-18's, A-380's and Warbirds, not to mention his long experience in Flight Simming makes this Flight Modeler a crucial fixture in the FM department.

Mattias: A generalist in the best sense, shared the Project Manager's position, the distant aircraft fix was his, as well as many other improvements. Now busy with his real life passion: Architecture.

Biggs: A 3D artist who started the Spit V's well on their way. Now taking a break.

falkon: Wrote some critical programs for 3D import/export.

Kodoss: Our German 110 specialist... come on back Kodoss!

Hawkzz: Started our first attempt at the P-40... sadly personal and computer issues halted the project.

Bluesix: An able Flight Modeling assistant.

ATAG_Torric: Our bomber testing specialist.

There are many others I have not mentioned... some hopefully to return....

The writer is RAF74_Buzzsaw, lucky enough to be Project Manager and Flight Modeler from the start, owing most of my success to being surrounded by other incredibly talented and generous modders. Took advantage of my place in TF to indulge my two inner demons, the history wonk and the flight data nerd.

Now... a reminder for those who have high level skills in 3D modeling, Codework and yes... Mission building.... we are looking for people who would like the opportunity to join us, enjoy a hobby and have a chance to earn some cash for their work... nobody's going to make their fortune, but fun and a decent amount more than beer money are a good possibility. Remember though... no money up front... work has to be completed and published... and we only will see revenues if there are successful sales. :IAG:

---
Lots more to come folks... stay tuned, we are just getting started!
Cheers to all.

And here is the announcement from Jason Williams at 1CGS just posted on their forums:

1CGS to Cooperate with Team Fusion on IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

1CGS is excited to announce that we have reached an agreement in principle to cooperate with Team Fusion on future commercial development of IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. This includes giving Team Fusion access to the Cliffs of Dover source code so they may continue their work to fix and improve Cliffs of Dover and build commercial add-ons for the base title. Such cooperation was made possible only recently as full ownership rights to Cliffs of Dover was returned to 1C Company after many years. We can now allow Team Fusion to continue their work more comfortably and help turn Cliffs of Dover into the product is was intended to be. 1CGS recognizes the hard work and passion that Team Fusion has exhibited in improving Cliffs of Dover and we welcome their continued dedication to the product. We also welcome them to the 1CGS family of developers who help make the combat flight-sim genre and IL-2 Sturmovik series so compelling.

In the coming weeks and months, Team Fusion’s work will be offered as an official content update and patch for Cliffs of Dover on Steam. This update will merge all the current changes and fixes into one update. The update will initially be optional. Not long thereafter, the update will be codified by Team Fusion and officially entered into the source code and file system for the product itself. The title will then be permanently updated through Steam negating the need for a separate patch.

Later in 2017, the first commercial add-on for Cliffs of Dover will be released. The add-on will be focused on the North Africa theater and will update the engine to DirectX 11 and include new airplanes, a new map and other content and improvements. There is a possibility that other theaters will be developed in the future pending the outcome of this first add-on. More information about the North Africa add-on will be made public in the coming weeks.

The Cliffs of Dover product line will be distinct and separate from the IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad line produced by 1CGS. Both game engines will be developed separately by each team with the announced IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Kuban development schedule unchanged and unaffected by this announcement.

Cliffs of Dover and its add-ons will be sold on the official IL-2 website (www.il2sturmovik.com) and through Steam. There are no current plans to incorporate Cliffs of Dover into the existing 1CGS user account system. Players will continue to manage their Cliffs of Dover install through Steam just as it is done now.

We hope you find this announcement to be exciting and re-assuring that your favorite hobby will continue to grow and flourish. 1CGS and Team Fusion ask for your support as this new era of cooperation and development begins!

Oh and finally guys, if you think you can help Team Fusion Simulations, as detailed above, specifically 3D Modelling (must have all aspects in your skillset - modelling, texturing, UV unwrapping, etc, etc, preference is in 3D Max and/or Blender), Mission Building (Single Mission, Multiplayer Missions and Dynamic Campaigns) and finally coding skills C++/C# as a minimum then contact:

Wow, I never saw this coming. My first thoughts are 1) the are no more excuses and 2) who will be the first to complain about having to pay now for the Africa expansion.

I would love to hear more about how this came to be and what it means to fixing the current version of the game. Would it be possible to create a dedicated server now?

Hello Everyone,

I want to send my congratulations to Team Fusion... sorry ...Team Fusion Simulations! 1CGS is looking forward to our partnership to grown this genre and offer something for all fans of WWII simulations. The only way to ensure it's expansion and survival is to wok on innovative products that simmers will enjoy using whatever resources available. I came from the community, my team came from the community, Team Fusion's members came from the community so it's up to all of us in the community to keep things moving forward by supporting those that keep this hobby alive. Getting this deal done has been a long time goal for me personally and it's a big relief to see it happening, but without my 1C partners understanding the nature of this genre and their investments in this genre it would not be possible.

Again, congrats to Team Fusion on all their fantastic work up to this point and special thanks to Mike at Team Fusion who worked with me to make this partnership possible over these past several months. And also thanks to Bliss and Colander for the conversations we've had in putting this together.

To the skies everyone!

Fantastic news and the only catch is we'll get to pay these guys for all their hard work now in developing TF5 and happy to do so. :)

I'm a keen supporter of BOS/M/K etc and even though I fly mainly Cliffs, I always wanted to try and support developers of our very niche community. I was always impressed in their continued development updates and wished TF had the same resources for my favourite sim. Now blow me down with a feather, we might just get that!

I guess as new planes get (P40) made, we can buy them and so support the devs.

Great news indeed!
I really hope that finally the ideas and the proposals will meet the " solid reality " having finally a game, IL2 Cliffs of Dover, that can really exploit all its potential ( that in my my opinion is very huge ).
I wish you all the best for this project hoping that it will render possible ( and finally ) to fix the various game bugs and defects once and for all!

Keep up with the good work!

Hey Jason. Just to let you guys know, as a long CloD Fan, I will get BoS and it's updates now as well, simply to support 1C and it's teams in it's whole. This is a good day for flight simmers and maybe helps amend the tensions that developed over IL2 over the last couple years.

The guys at Team Fusion (Simulations) are the best and none of us would be celebrating this wonderful news without their hard work, dedication and foresight. Thank you guys you deserve the best Christmas ever.

I have had BoS from the start and have also bought BoM & BoK as well as some of the collectable planes. In fact I played BoS single player before downloading Cliffs of Dover. They are different but we as a community should support CFS any way we can.

1C Online Games and Jason also deserve our thanks. Let us hope this partnership goes from strength to strength and we can keep this awesome hobby of ours alive.

Like evryone else i got really excited with these news. I never tought we would see this day come. Such a huge step for evrything. For evryone. For us the flight simmers passionates

This means faster and better? (unfair statement perhaps) development from TF(S)

This means no more download/instalation problems as before (weeeee we get more free time to play!)

This means more people jumping in just because its "official" and in the future the "Mod" word will disapear, along with the statement of beeing a "hack" (yes i know weird, but many people still see it that way)

And so many things more. Congrats. Just congrats. To evryone on Team Fusion. You are all equally important. The balance of you guys genious and generosity made us enjoy all these years the product of your labor.

Keep up the good work. Thanks for allow us to dream with you lot :)

Merry Christmas!

Congratulations! I guess this officially makes(or keeps?) Cliffs of Dover a current gen flight sim. It's good to see the TF team get official recognition.

I hope that moving over to DX11 will provide the game with the performance boosts it needs over the cities and when there are a lot of aircraft in the air. Does this mean that TF 5, North Africa will be getting an official SP campaign as well?

Hi,

I have some questions regarding

I ordered Il2 Cliffs of Dover physical collector edition for Christmas. Will it be easy to patch from this "release" version to TF 4.312 with your single-install compilation?
Also, about the new edition of the game, will it exist in physical version (via Excalibur Publishing) or only digital?

thank you

Hi Nic,

Until someone better qualified jumps in with more info, the short answer to your first question is "yes". Basically upon ordering the collector edition you purchased the game licence which is recognized by Steam. At present Steam will install what we call the "vanilla" version of the game ie the last version 1C released back in 2012 before Team Fusion was created. Currently you then can download the free Team Fusion patches and manually install them sequentially. The last patch will bring you up to the current Team Fusion 4.312 version which we all have.

Ultimately, per this announcement, Steam will automatically update licensed versions of Cliffs of Dover (including yours) to a current version. Future additions (maps, aircraft, features, etc) will be available for purchase via Steam.

At this time there is no physical version of Clod available (AFAIK) - just the Steam installation of the vanilla version, plus the TF patches available through this forum at the top of the page.

Just out of genuine curiosity:
Why are some people be upset about this? Are their reservations and fears warranted? If yes, to what extent? Is for instance the prime paradigm of realism compromised because financial gain is at risk? i.e. balancing and such.
I am by no means trying to start a heated debate here, I am as stoked as the next guy, but if someone could clear me up, that would be nice.

For me it was something in the air since the strange release of BoK and not a Mediterranean theater with the intention of not interfering with TF work. Was something between the lines for me (maybe I'm wrong).
Hope this will be able to bring some new fresh air to the sim.
Good luck for your work and your experience since this as you said will bring you new standards and challenges!
I really appreciated the fact that "new clod with tf 4" will be free of charge.
Any ideas about price for TF 5? Or an estimated release period?

As others have said WOW:thumbsup: Just last night I loaded up COD (first time in 3 weeks) and through steam it appeared it was completely reinstalled, however all mods remained in tack, could have been just checking that I do own COD. Did a quick flight over London and working just as always.

I have no problem paying for a new theater/campaign, but I expect you'll turn off a lot of people if you charge for individual aircraft. It should be a level playing field, so if you are going to fly the desert campaign everyone should be able to choose any plane available. Basing your ability to score in-game partly on your wallet will make it a lot less enjoyable. That was one of the features about BOS that I found distasteful.

Outstanding news. Congrats to TFS and 1C! Hurry up and take my money!!!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to send out my personal thanks to both groups. It's their work which prevents my having to turn to War Thunder or Aces High to get an online WWII air combat fix. You have no idea how big a deal that is for me. :D

Good point, Kendy. I've edited my earlier post to leave it at "future additions". :salute:
Same thing with trees or clouds... If they change the dynamics of the game, or give someone an advantage over another player they should be on for all or off for all...But that's a topic for a different thread!

Gentlemen...Congratulations!

The more I dig into the scripting code, the more data the engine reveals that can be used to do all sorts of things to enhance the gaming experience. An active airfield is truly a thing to behold an one being bombed is quite spectacular too.

I too am getting ready to release another version of my Dynamic campaign for single-player. A lot of bug fixes in this one. The ideas for improving it just keep on coming, I can't leave well enough alone. What can I say I like coding. (when it works)

A Question:
Will the source code be available to those who might like to see it ?

A request:
Please make your updates available apart from Steam. I really don't like it.

Awesome news and congrats to all involved...

Just wondering...will we now have to pay for TF5.0? ( dont worry i have no issue with that

Does this mean that from here on, the TF financial model will be
the same as Jasons in that one must pay for each and every single plane, addition, upgrade, puff of smoke
released for the sim, individually...just curious as to what the future holds is all...

Once again, congrats on this development...can only mean great things for the greatest sim as far as ease of development

Personally I'm guessing yes. It's worth it, but please TF don't use the same financial model BOS and DCS does. Just sell TF 5, 6, etc. as expansions. The preorder thing, Premium and Standard edition, paying for individual planes(DLC)...it's a terrible way to do this stuff.

Congratulations to Team Fusion Simulations. These are great news. Awesome! :ilike:
I hope that the new agreement with 1C makes the life of you great guys easier and favourites the development of TFS-add-ons / releases. I keep finger crossed for successful negotiations, good luck. Who could expect that the lame duck named cliffs of Dover would get up one day as a phoenix from the sands of Tobruk? Grace to TFS! IMHO the situation for the sim community was never like that before: Now, two companies are working on the successor of ol' IL 2 -series - IL² - giving us a theatre in the Channel, Africa, Stalingrad, Moscow and Kuban. Who of them will make the race to the pacific? I'll be very happy to express my appreciation to TFS by buying their next add-on, the Alaska edition - the ice-extensions-pack :D
:devilish:

And if you developers see it now from the professional POV, saying to acknowledge a Desert Campaign without a P-40 is just not a Desert Campaign, may I express a wish (as a future client and because X-mas has still to come)? To me, the Mediterranean theatre needs take offs and landings on the HMS Ark Royal aircraft-carrier.

salute, TG :salute: and thx to 1C & Jason, too! Merry X-mas to everybody!

Along with the vast majority of posts here, I want to add my congrats to TF and 1c. As a long time supporter of 777 / 1c (and would have gladly have contributed monetarily to TF if they were accepting donations... looks like now I'll have my chance ) I'm thrilled by this development. I also support DCS and have about 50% of their modules. Also bought WOFF mostly as support... I rarely fly it since it's SP only and my interest is in online multiplayer.

As someone said above, combat sims are a limited / niche market with relatively slim profit margins. If those of us who are enthusiasts don't support as much as we can they may be a thing of the past.

Any plans to give some love to Rise of Flight Jason? (Had to throw that in ;) )

can you give a price estimate on the addon stuff?
Are we looking at 20 bucks per aircraft?

I highly doubt there will be an "à la carte" system like DCS, simply because that would necessitate the introduction of a user account management system which wouldnt make any sense. It is far more likely that the addon(s) will be theatre packs like you see with BoS/M/K!

This is not the BzS - is СоD! There are Pe-2, LaGG-3 and Bf-109F
As explained BlackSix:
https://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/...-2-shtu/page-3

later model aircraft were converted to the Battle of Stalingrad.
But the source files are stored. When asked about the possibility of file transfer command, he declined to answer, redirecting all Jason.
Question - the team is interested to get these planes almost ready materials and different? Underway there any talks about this?
Get BzS based on CoD - it's great!

Woke up this morning, and had to make sure this wasn't all a dream. After everything is finalized and TFS gets the source code..I wonder what really is possible with all of this? Is it going to give them the access they need to improve AI? Road splines so we can have more reliable vehicle movement? Pilot and crew members moving around getting in and out of aircraft.. Vehicle crews scrambling for their lives after a staffing run? I'm just excited and thinking out loud and wondering the possibilities of what could be..To me I feel CLOD needs more movement and more life around it. I have loved it and been here since I started watching the development on the banana forums. Waiting and watching..Hoping for Oleg Maddox to post..More exciting news! This is a dream come true..And I hope Oleg is smiling knowing his vision could finally come to full fruition some day. Thanks again for everyone(TFS and 1C ) keeping ours and his dream alive! S!

The He 59: I'll reply to this to stop further speculation.
A search was made by a TF development team member a while ago for anything related to those aircraft files, or any other similar WiP aircraft additions. There is nothing in the game files, and I presume access to the source code wouldn't change that situations at all. So unfortunately it is not likely those WiP planes (from pre initial release of the original game) will ever surface. Sorry.

This Is Awesome News ! !

It is very refreshing to hear some good news (sure not getting it via the news this year) ;)

As someone who owns 46 which IMHO is still the best ww2 FS out there, owns and loves COD, owns BOS & BOM even tho I don't particularly like them, and also own many DCS modules. I can not wait to shell out some of my moola to the first official release from Team Fusion Simulations :)

Like others have mentioned I hope you guys can find some people to go through the aircraft AI and the ground vehicle AI with a fine tooth comb, then fix all the spline road, and other map issues, etc, that will allow other CFS community members the ability to create or complete a complex online campaign system that would be equal to the old SEOW (scorched earth online war) for MOD`d IL2 1946. Then we can find the dragon again that we enjoyed via those amazing complex total war scenario`s that were the best gaming experiences of our lives back in the dawn of the IL2 1946 era.

Finally the COD engines full potential will have the chance to be realized !

The future of the CFS is looking bright !

Sorry.

Congrats TFS and 1C, the Flight Sim Community is much better for this if it all works out. A quick plug for the 2.006c patch(directx 11), my old AMD PhenomIIBE 3.4ghz with 16Gb 1600 Corsair Mem, GTX770 2Gb is now running BOS on Ultra settings at (VSync = Adaptive) 60FPS on Stalingrad burning map, all ground units on in Quick Combat with 16 plane dogfight. There are no micro stutters in my testing so far, even with TIR5 running 50 smoothing. I am very hopeful that Directx 11 will bring CLOD to these similar results in the Battles over London.
Hoping for a Christmas sale? BOM & BOS & BOK ARE ON SALE NOW, 12/22/16, JUST PICKED UP BOM FOR $53.59 AND THE NEW CAMPAIGN AS WELL.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! THANKS JASON/1C!
Again Congrats To All That Are Working Together To Make This Cooperative Effort Possible! BRAVO!

Hopefully we have left the "them and us" mind-set in the past.
Now it should be the "together" mind-set that will reunite this community and allow everybody to enjoy all aspects of this sim, whilst supporting it all, without fear of appearing to be taking sides!

Wonderful wonderful news: so glad to see friendship and goodwill overcome barriers and artificial divisions.

Talking about what will be possible: I am hoping that 1C will perhaps be able to transfer any P-40 info and models to TFS so the P-40 can soon fly over the Med.

Also it would be great if Oleg Maddox or others could pass on to TFS the old models of which Bear22 showed some screenies higher up in the thread.

Merry Christmas to all, especially to the big Santa called Jason Williams!

Wow, impressive and exciting stuff. If Jason is saying they have only just got the full rights to Clod does that mean Oleg was part of the negotiations too? Must have been real UN level diplomacy going on if so. It just goes to show the professionalism of TF and their work and the high regard it is held in. Bet they never thought ten years ago they would be the developers and custodians of the dream. I really hope they get some decent reward now for the hard work they are doing for all our benefit.

This is a dream!

what is BzS?

yes these were meant for the Battle of Moscow theater release; that got canceled.

Hello Aus

Speaking as someone who has invested 1000's of hours in CoD and who has a lot of pride in what we have accomplished, I can say objectively there are a number of areas where BoS has better modeling than TF's CoD. So please don't bash the other game... as I hope those who prefer BoS/BoM will not bash CoD.

Both games have their strong points and both game's developers are working to improve them.

1C has generously given TF the opportunity to take our improvements to the next level... so with that in mind I would suggest members of the CoD community think twice about biting the hand which is offering help.

In regards to us getting models from BoS/BoM, I don't think that is possible. The standards are different. We will be making our models from scratch.

Now the next big issue for both sims is to get VR ready. VR is mindblowing but there are too many "childish" games out there. BoS/BoM/BoK and Il-2:CoD/Med as serious sims which can be played in VR will improve not only their own stature but the stature of VR as well. I don't know if VR for the two sims will generate a lot of extra sales immediately (some for sure) but their exposure in the general gaming world will increase exponentially. Flight sims where you sit on your butt are perfect for VR. I myself haven't flown both sims for a while but will definitely get back into them when they get VR ready and a new gen of higher-res VR glasses come out.

Great news guys!

CloD is my combat sim of choice so this feels like a big win for me. I have the most hours in this compared to anything I've played, ever. This game made me put together a nice setup as well. Love it.

A few questions.

Will this mean we will finally get trees to smash into?

Will it mean you will be able to mess with how aircraft come apart? One thing BoS has that I really like is the collision mesh with other aircraft and how wings break. Right now they sort of shear off. With source code will you be able to make it more BoS like?

I find spotting from long distance in CloD to be the best of all the flight sims. Will you be able to improve it further or any plans to? That's my hang up for VR. Waiting for resolution to get fantastic so I can see long distance without having to zoom. So as it is right now I would not spend the money on VR for this game. I don't think there is even a device good enough yet anyway.

What will I see when I see the DX11 version? Will it be a graphics increase or performance? I really have no idea.

Are there any plans to improve bullet and cannon strikes? As in more variety of the type of damage I visually see on my wings etc of current aircraft?

Do you guys have a price idea? I have no objections to you guys getting paid properly. I work for myself and understand that if you really calculated the hours of output to dollars earnt ESPECIALLY at the startup it can and up being pennies.... :P

It's why I have bought all the BoS games versions so far and a lot of Rise of Flight. I've only flown my Sabre twice but have all the WWII A/C and the Mig. If we don't support the genre it dies. No one can afford to work for free forever.

If you pull it off it's a win for us all so I'm cheering for this project. I believe that with upcoming VR we will see a Renaissance of this genre. VR is the gaming future and what could be cooler for VR more than jumping into something you could never afford and blow the wings off a 109..... I've been waiting for this since the 80s!

I wish you guys a lot of luck.

I'm really pleased that CLoD is helping with your recovery....and with all this wonderful good news it can only get better! Stick with it, Mate! You are obviously doing great guns! I think I remember your original welcome post from back in the year and I'm glad your still battling away with CLoD. Don't worry: we all are! We all know it is a very hard sim to get to grips with. Many, many times I fly and see nothing...hit nothing..... but still enjoy the ride. As the guys above suggest, do get on Team Speak if you can and say 'hello.' We are all ready and willing to 'wing up' with you and share the fun! Salute and Happy New Year!

Welcome Popped Rivets

There are a lot of ways to participate... consider flying Bombers... much more stable... you avoid the requirement for constant maneuver and gun aiming... let your gunners do that for you.

Or you could try being a gunner yourself... you can focus on the gun... not have to worry about flying.

Or you could even man an AA gun on the ground... airfields are under attack fairly often... keep on teamspeak, listen for where the attacks are happening and then go to that airfield.

This is GREAT news. Thank you. I look forward to more great things about this great game. I am still not ready to go online and play with the big boys. Still recovering from my stroke. Frustrating joystick control problems with gun aiming. No fine movement. Seems like the only way I can down an enemy in full realistic is to ram the Bast...
Anyway, in spite of that, just tooling around in easy mode is still a lot of fun. Maybe it is what I am limited to... who knows. Still, no matter what one's capabilities are, it's all about having fun, isn't it. Take care and have a great New Year and a wonderful 2017.

Hi Smoke,

You have many questions but at this stage, TF(S) has even more :)

Awesome. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities.

PC performance is a lot greater than it was when Cliffs was released. This is going to be pretty.

I do hope it will now be possible to easily fix some of the basic stuff, such as firing your eight machine guns into the sea - and seeing two thin lines of splashes! Or firing your eight machine guns each loaded with tracer and seeing just two lines of tracer appearing.

I assume this kind of thing was early attempts to improve performance, but surely most people's PCs can handle the graphics of eight machine guns now!

Not sure what game you are playing, but if you have different convergences for the guns on your aircraft, you will see eight lines of splashes.

Same with the tracers... you are obviously not understanding the gun loadouts or the convergence systems.

Each gun and the rounds fired from it are handled separately. CLIFFS OF DOVER has one of the best weapons system designs of any combat flight simulator.

Hi bud, that all works pretty well in Clod.
Hop on to teamspeak and one of the british/red pilots in the know will certainly help you along, without doubt.

I cant, 109 pilot here and spray and pray most of the time :), but convergence settings work there as well.

If you get stuck TS channel is your big friend, as everyone will literally stop to try and help someone.

@Buzzsaw, the weapon customization is not working with offline quick missions, even if you set it in the configuration screen.

@Carbolicus. If you wanna use custom settings offline, currently you have two options - make your own mission, and set the weapons in the FMB. Or start a "lobby" in multiplayer. Basically you will host a multiplayer mission, but you can testing the different loadouts on you pc.

I gave my book about him to my friend Doris. I was telling her about the things....trouble he got himself into....She didn't take me to seriously until she read it. :)

I'll edit this a bit after a day. It's my fault totally but The Battle of Britain is one of my least favorite arenas, I think it's the going back and forth over the channel I can see how many love it however. Even though I don't like the arena almost every day I'm flying Cliffs of Dover so that says a lot for how great this sim is. I'm just busting at the seams seeing me over North Africa in one of those 109 fs with those P-40s wizzing by with mouths agape :) and who knows what else will come in the future if Libya is a success. :salute:

So will some sort of new "Game Box" be produced to advertise the improved game?

It is one of those things that probably hasn't been considered yet (boxed, or download only). Lots of things are 'up in the air' at the moment, as you can imagine. It would only be announced once a final decision has been made, and that decision would involve more parties than just TFS.

Cheers, Setback

What I was trying to say but doing a very bad job of it was... You know the advertisement on download sites is usually the old CD box isn't it? Well when the new addon comes out won't there be a new box like looking advertisement for it and since the old game will be all updated shouldn't the advertisement for it be updated as well or is that a dumb question lol

Yes i know what you mean. You want a new Art Cover for Cliffs of Dover, who can represent the content as it is now (or will be).

All decisions regarding marketing and sales will be 1C's.

I personally doubt we will see a new boxed version of the game although as I say, that decision is 1C's not TF's.

More likely all the new releases will be in the form of addon DLC's to the original game.
