Big thanks to Pattle for winging up tonight. I'm sure I doubled his workload as he tried his best to keep me alive while we tangled with a couple of 109s. Best I could do in return was act as 109 bait. Thanks mate, I genuinely learned some useful stuff tonight :salute:

If any of the newer guys out there are in any doubt as to the value of jumping onto TeamSpeak and asking if anyone is available to wing up with you, don't be. It helps immeasurably and adds to the realism. It took me a while to get onto TS, but there really is no substitute!

(And Marshy, our paths will cross again online soon, I'm sure!)

Yep, Pat is a great wingman. Although he flies a more careful, less Gung Ho style to me so i tend to get him killed a fair bit :)!
I have my favourite wingmen (you guys know who you are, no need for mutual pocket pissing here)
But i am always happy to wing up with who ever is around at the time novice or veteran, 'cause learning from others
can be just as much fun as sharing your favourite moves.

For me, the most well received/important qualities in a wingman are:

1 Speed if you can't be good at least try and keep up (if you want my settings just ask).

2 Navigation/Coms. Being able to communicate your position quickly and effectively is critical if you want your wingman to support you.
This means calling your position relative to landmarks and also altitude. One is no good without the other.

Its always more fun with a wingman and safer too, see you in the skies,

Was I by any chance one of those 109s or was that earlier on?

Hi Screwdriver & Kiwi!

I think I may have been the other one of those 109s. I'm pretty sure you and Pattle kindly "escorted" me back to France after our other 109 went off leaking coolant. The thought of facing the pair of you was a bit more than I cared for :recon: You two always seemed just out of reach for anything but a quick snap shot...

My first flight on the server, and it certainly delivered some sweaty palms :salute: Maybe next time more blues will be on TS!

Thanks Screwdriver.

As Nork (the more adventurous of the two os us) mentioned, I'm always good to wing up with people.

It's funny how you go about the business depending on whether you are the junior as such in the pair or senior (more experianced).

Kiwi and Crispin, it was you two guys Screwdriver was referring to. Then vfasoulis joined in and proved a real handful, with what was a great display of disciplined boom and zooming.

Was great to see you on line for the first time Crispin. It's an adrenaline rush hey

No worries Screwdriver. I have been getting some advice of my own too, mainly about getting my aircraft trimmed up properly and performance at different altitudes. Having an experienced wingman really does help. I have also found that tuning the detail on my screen is helping. Look forward to winging up with you soon, although you might need to consider living in the "correct hemisphere" to make the timings work!:salute:
