OK, so I've got it into my head that I'd like to make Cliffs look even prettier than it already does. I've seen some mention of SweetFX and even more references to reshade. I am aware of SweetFX and did briefly use it on Rise of Flight a few years ago, but I know nothing at all about reshade, what functions it has and how one sets it up.

Are they utilities used in their own right or can / do they work in conjunction with one another?

If they are discrete tools and subjectivity aside, is one considered "better" or at least better suited to Cliffs? Is one or the other deemed more reliable or more functional?

I know, so many questions, but it would be great if someone could clear this up for me!

Cheers,

Panser

If I recall correctly, reshade is the Sweetx upgraded and contains Sweetfx within. Both are individual programs just one is contained within the other. Personally I had less issues with reshade than I did with Sweetfx. Found it had a good user interface. Simplistic in fact but did what I wanted it to. I deleted it in the end, but only because I had issues with Sweetfx which I had as a seperate entity within the HD. I nuked both just to be sure. Simply havent got around to reinstalling it. Maybe one day.

I can run reshade without much hassle and sweetfx was somewhat problematic with the game as long as i recall. Look on the forum for Karaya reshade tutorial.

I think different rigs proved to have different issues with both of those softwares...Personnally I used Reshade with some success...but then I realised that there were some instances where I couldn't see aircraft against the ground clutter that I could see without it...That was a big no-no...So I uninstalled it...

There's plenty of info in these forums about both....Use the search facility on the top left of this forum and make she you go 'advanced search' and then search in 'Search titles only'...

OK, thanks for the thoughts. I'll look out Karaya's tutorial. Lewis, I did try searching the forums first but only seemed to find very general discussion. The two links that you posted don't work for me. They both report "vBulletin Message Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

First adjust your monitor correctly. You might be surprised just how much it can improve the colour etc. Even the windows calibration tools will help.

Then, if your using a TV, do as Baffin says and turn down your sharpness almost to nothing.

Then perhaps try reshade.
