I don't see any French soldier here, while their sacrifice helped a lot to get British men home

Yes, the French held many of the rearguard positions.... although a large number were evacuated to Britain as well... over 100,000.

There were approx. 230,000 British soldiers evacuated.

Approx. 40,000 French soldiers were unable to be taken off, and surrendered. Approx. 4,000 British rearguards who were also unable to be evacuated also surrendered.

Most of the French troops who were evacuated to Britain were shipped to France before France surrendered... although approximately 3,000 who were still in Britain when the surrender happened decided to stay and fight with De Gaulle and the Free French.

My Grandfather was evacuated from Dunkirk, Gloucestershire Regt, the things he talked about and saw are heartbreaking.
He never quite got over it, I remember as a child he would just jump up and shout, Stukas, take cover!! Then spend hours under the stairs.
Nothing but respect for him.
