Hello all

The next gathering of the "Casuals" is set to take place on 15th July 2017 @ 2000 UTC (9PM London Time). It will be a BLUE event.

The usual rules apply. Have fun, be on the TS coms "Boomer's Casuals" 30 mins before and bring your bad jokes.

Remember, we fly what we are given, in the map we given, so there can be no guarantee's of the exact types available but this event will concentrate on the use of JABO 110s if they are available. If its a map where the type is not available we can fall back on the 87 and 88 but this is very much a second choice.

The 110 is an easy and fun aircraft to fly as a light GA aircraft. Certainly not as awkward or complex as an 88 or 110. As such, I am hoping we can gather an even bigger attack force this time that will make up for the smaller loads carried. But the task wont be easy so we may take some time initially to plan our strategy rather than just getting up and going at em "gung ho" - one day, it would be nice to actually get back from one of these raids!!

Things to prepare if you don't regularly fly the 110 or other JABO?


Get some in - a couple of hours familiarisation will help lots - See the excellent Chucks Guide on CLoD here https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/Downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=3 for all you need to know

Make sure you understand how the gunner/pilot transfer works in the 110 and JU87 - basically if you occupy the gunner position and want to give AI control when you go back to being the pilot there are things you need to set - This thread tells you how http://www.stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1144&p=7303 and if you use TARGET or macros, the job can be made absolutely fool proof.

Make sure you set keys for - release type (salvo or single), MASTER ARM (Important), and Ordinance Release


Finally - we NEED fighter escort - without this we a dog meat!

I find the 110 is a wonderful, beautiful machine when used properly.
An escort is certainly very, very useful. But the 110 can also be good at defensive if there work together!
So, i'm in with a 110.

My recommendation:
Pay attention to speed and energy, and do not try to curve too much.

I look forward to it!

I'm really appreciative that these gathering are well support by the "star" Squads - it makes for a great event and the expertise is welcome.

The 110s should be great -especially in numbers - we have some ideas to do some stuff out of the norm as well as some ideas about just getting stuck in!

A few of us took out Blenni Bombers and Gunships with a small fighter escort out last night and caused chaos! A fantastically fun experience when the numbers mean that you are no longer the one at a disadvantage and being hunted. Seeing 5 angry blennis destroy a column and then chase any number of unfortunate 109s to their demise was.....well......hilarious!

If there is going to one over-riding ethos for the JABO event its simply this -- MAXIMUM AGGRESSION!

Thank to everyone who took part especially those for who the 110 is an exotic bird!! . Great to see so many 110s together and so many willing to dip their toes. Thanks especially to Drock for the leadership and Freya, 9/52 (bombers and escort) and JG4 (Primary Escort) for the support! Really nice to fly with so many names I usually only see too!

our scout pilots had you headding to wilmington where i think you guys Legged headding up towards english point.
i got tagged just south of littlestone jetted the canopy made the call to attempt a landing my engine gave out just short of the runway.

I used Yoyos presets a month or so back but just couldn't get on with the FXAA on my TV. With it on I couldn't even spot the ships.
