CloD AI is "famous" for their little will to fight.
At long time I am trying make a specific SP mission, but due those :grrr: C++ scripts things always goes south, I give up, eventually remember, try again, give up, rise and repeat, and years goes. So I have tested the combat part of this mission, that work OK, dozen of times.
To give the player a chance to win - "against all odds", I set AI skills lower, but not that dumb "aerial target" Rookie of most CloD Quick Missions, and some of the enemy planes - Bf 109's, using only that Beoch..thing ineffective ammo.
OK, today trying - again - set some mission details on ground, I leave the player plane in autopilot, and time after, when generally Bf 109's have disengaged and run for home, I take control of the plane. But this time notice that one Bf 109 still near, chasing my AI wingman, so I try help the guy, and after get close that Bf 109 disengage and zoomed up.
My plane are now low on ammo, so I take control of the wingman. The now AI leader of flight declares low on ammo and RTB. :D
I stay flying in the area looking for some other details of the mission (the part that never goes like I want), then I was jumped by that Bf 109, I manage do avoid their fire but are not able to catch then since he climb for ~8,000 feet, so give up and forget then.
A little latter here's he again... and again. I find strange their persistence and take a screen shoot at 6:05 PM, and the things goes, the AI always boom and zoom, until at 6:29 PM he probable end out of ammo or low on fuel and take heading for home, allowing me damage then.

As now I have deplete all ammo I leave the plane in autopilot and change the camera for that Bf 109 and notice another curious thing, two other Bf 109 that supposed should have landed in their base are awaiting for that Bf 109 in the next waypoint all this time and start "escort" then back, until he crash landing due lack of fuel or coolant.
Are a bit of RGN in AI behavior, sometimes few Bf 109 engage, or even none, other times they are more aggressive, and now that pesky "hardhead". :salute:
