My CH throttle lasted about 15 years, but its failing lately.

What thorttle do you guys recommend for WWII sims?

I have a warthog throttle and love it.

Its not exactly WWII but so what.

Id also consider CH again. Great kit.

Also.... can make your own. I've made a pile of my own stuff now. Using arduino boards. And the direction and help of others here. 1Lokos. Marco. Zeb. And a few other guys.

I knew nothing when I started. Now I think id make all my own kit other than a joystick.

Off the shelf:
CH
Thrustmaster

Id avoid saitek from my own experience. Cheap to buy though.

Tm TWCS is cheap and has the same number of axis (5) than Warthog throttle, but is the same old story: some is axis for "jets" use, aren't practical for control things like mixture, radiators...

Anyway before buy, is not bad idea bough a potentiometer (~$10) from CH, require only a Philips screwdrivers and pliers for replace and probable will last ~10 years.

Exactly as 1lokos says.

Just bung another pot in.... CH kits is very very good. It might look a bit dull. But its a throttle. Nobody looks at that while flying. (Unless they want to be dead really quick)

I have a CH Pro Throttle...and if it started to wear out I'd either replace the parts or buy another one...

I managed to get mine from Ebay for £35...$47

Also...in what way is it failing?

If its a key then you can try use a little bit of WD40 oil...Check google to see what folks are using...Mine had a Dickie switch a month ago...I took the grip apart and added a little bit of WD40 on a toothpick to get it so the specific area of the hat switch...It has worked perfectly upto now...

Ok...with a quick Google search on this problem I see that you have a few choices...

From what I see CH Products sell the potentiometer brand new...Apparently this particular Pot is not soldered but push fitted so no soldering to do...(I can't remember myself as it was a while since I took mine apart)...But if it is a push fit then you may have the option to squeeze the connectors to make sure they contact securely as that could be the issue...I also read someone doing this on a forum using Google...

Here is the site for the new Pot (HP100 - 100K)...The product is on the left, 5th from the top for $9.75 although I think this page is now not available...so you'll need to source the pot somewhere else...

Pots aren't expensive and you can use many different ones to do the same job...I used 3 guitar Pots I had knocking about to make a Saitek throttle work with a Microsoft sidewinder 2 electronics and USB...

If you have trouble getting the pot from CH Products then Ebay search 'Potetiometer 100K'...That will give you many results and then you have to try find the one that will fit...Many sellers give full dimensions of the pots and you can also cross reference the pictures they supply...

The other alternative and the one I would start with is to take the stick apart and add some WD40 to the main throttle pot with a toothpick....You don't need to put too much in there as it will get messy so just a couple drops then manipulate the pot to get the oil lubricating it properly...As I say...this method saved my sticky hat switch and may work for your pot...It can't do any harm as the WD40 is made to be used for electronics without shorting anything...

Here's a pic of the pot in situ...

http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/images/technology_076a_002.jpg

Take the pot out and turn it over to run oil into it...It may well just be some dirt or static in there which the oil will resolve...Worth a try...!

Whatever you do DON'T THROW THE THROTTLE AWAY!...someone can fix it even if you can't...and those buggers are expensive...especially when its only a pot to fault...

and use Google...Its pretty good....

After a Chinese group buy CH years ago this spare parts page sales was deactivated, is need request the replacement pot by email - some guys receive without cost.

At least CH sell replacement pot (that is the best pot used by joystick industry) try get one spare pot for Logitech/Saitek or Thrustmaster "entry level" models. :thmbdwn:

You should try to clean that pot first. Use some contact spray or isopropyl alcohol.

Don't use WD40 for cleaning pots !!!

You might get some instant success with it but you'd ruin a pot.

Get yourself another ch pro throttle mate. Your first one lasted 15 years that should tell you something. I use that throttle it's robust and does the job nicely

However there are other alternatives:

I have a Bobcat bombertrainer 1942authentic throttle connected to sliders and a usb card costing no more than a warthog throttle with all electronics.
But if your throttle lasted for 15 years and it is adequate for your use I agree on buying a new one . It sounds like quality
