umm bit late to be asking this.. im running the tf mod release (non-steam version) how do i get upto speed with applying the steam version.

If you want to be safe, delete the contents of the il-2 folder, but keep your config files ... also in 'Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover'

Then go to the steam install page.... right click on the game, properties, go to the betas, select the TF 4.312 beta.

Then 'verify' your install and it will install the complete game with the TF 4.312 beta.

It seems hard to believe that the wait is almost over.
For me this is the official relaunch of Cliffs Of Dover. The sim that at one point seemed to be going down in flames is taking flight again.
About three years ago it was posted that a fix to the broken rivers bug might have been found (well done Kling!) and it seemed obvious that, with their talent and skills and dedication Team Fusion's next patch was going to finally give us the game that we had all hoped for on release day.
So I decided to wait until the patch came out, and as I had to build a new computer anyway, uninstalled Cliffs, and kept myself busy with the whole DCS WW2 thing.
It's been three years since I've seen my beloved Hurricane.

When the 4.5 patch is finally released I'm going to pretend that the last six years didn't happen, and take that install disc and enjoy Cliffs Of Dover like it's the first time.

I have a i5-4440, 8GB RAM, ATI HD7790

OK so you have a quad core 3Ghz CPU. that's fine.
8 Gb RAM, That's a bit light depending on OS
ATi HD7790 card, There are some anomalies with ATi cards with tearing and performance.

So you don't really need to up the processor so let's look at the RAM.
8Gb is really light if you run Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 because Microsoft doesn't want you meddling in their shit. You should have a minimum of 16, and 32 is better.
I used to be ATi Guy from the first computer that I built in 1995. Unfortunately I have tried both cards and I've come to the dark side with my latest build and have a NVidia GTX970. By tech standards it's an old POS but it still runs ClOD between 312FPS on the high and 90FPS on the low side. The Last ATi card I used was a radeon 4780 and if I hadn't cooked the MB FSB I'd probably be able to run the game still with some small graphics issues. It ran the original Cliffs of Dover before TFS MOD was made and other than the holy crap psychedelic graphics anomalies it held a decent FPS.

So in General I would say start with the cheapest fix attempt and add another 8Gb RAM use the same as you have installed or buy 16Gb and replace with new. Then after that Check and see the performance difference and if there isn't one then try updating the GPU to an NVidia card.
