Hi Folks,

Just wanted to say hi and that I think this game is awesome. I'm really liking the German bombers, in particular the JU-88, so I'm concentrating my training on that now. I'd like to start up in multi-player, but don't even know where to begin, and kinda feel like I'd be a lamb going to the slaughter, but heck, it's only a game right? :)

Anyways, I hope to play this simulator for a long time since I really like the realism, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than flying a real warbird!

Regards!

Welcome to the forums Av8r.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun. Jump right in. We've all been there.

As ATAG_Highseas says, the forum is a great source of information. So is TeamSpeak.
The folk are very helpful.

Welcome and fear not.
It is not a plunge as such, but more a leap into the persona of some great historical aircraft.

Everyone here will gladly volunteer advice or assistance 'if required'.
Get on the TS server, come fly!

Welcome to the Community and Forums av8rpablo ...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

Windows Management Guide (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3273)

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

Welcome to Cliffs of Dover and the ATAG community av8rpablo

Good to have you with us buddy. Get on Teamspeak as soon as you can, and get that JU88 up on the ATAG Axis v Allies server.

We could do with some more German bombers on the server. Give me something to shoot down as I always come off worse against the 109's:devilish:

Only kidding. Which ever side you fly, you will enjoy this awesome sim which is still probably the best combat flight sim out there despite it's age, and it's going to get even better very soon with the arrival of patch 4.5 ,bringing with it a whole lot of further improvements and more flyable aircraft on both sides.

Have fun, and I hope to see you in the virtual skies soon :salute:

Hi Pablo.......I'm coming to this thread a bit late but I was immediately struck by your enthusiasm for this wonderful sim of ours. I'm sure we all agree with your sentiments. I certainly felt like a 'lamb to slaughter' when I first went multiplayer. Talk about innocent! I didn't have a clue what I was doing and I'll never forget glancing behind me, to see a huge yellow spinner homing in on my Spitfire, over Dover harbour. Sure enough, after being scared to death by the bangs and crashes of cannon shells, I found myself in a 'brolly' heading for 'an early bath' in the harbour.... but from that moment on I was hooked.

I got myself fixed up by downloading Team Speak and although I'm not a very computer literate bod I got it working and was soon listening in to all the fun, as other pilots cooperated and joked together. It was then that I began to realise what a fantastic community I had found...and that was perhaps as big a find as the quality of the sim itself!
Everybody was so respectful, polite, yet ready to offer endless advice and friendship to a newbie like myself. In next to no time I had improved my flying skills and was having a ball. Two years later I'm still having a ball and have made many new friends 'on line.'

It is quite a thing to be flying with, and talking with, pilots from Australia, USA, Canada, France and Germany...ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Get stuck in, Pablo and if you see me on line do say 'hello' and we'll wing up and dish it to the Blues! (Or die trying! Ha ha!) Have fun...good luck...and Salute!

Thanks to everybody for your great replies!

Lewis, I'm working through all of your awesome recommendations, it just shows how much there is to learn! But heck, you learn something new every day right?

Laser, if you do run across me as I fly low level across the English countryside and you manage to blow me out of the sky with 8x.303s, how could I blame you. Of course it's only business, nothing personal, i'd gladly return the favor given the chance :)

I went on the ATAG server yesterday evening, bombed RAF Ford with my trusty JU-88 and lived to tell about it! It was glorious sitting in the copula and watching my string of bombs walk across the airfield from 5000 meters. A person could get hooked on this crack.....

Ok, next step is teamspeak, because it kinda sucks not being able to talk to anybody, so I'll get that up and running. See you guys in the air soon!

you learn something new every day right?

That doesn't just go for new players...The vets learn from others here too...I learn something I didn't know here almost every day...on the forums or on TS...You don't need too much more than the basics to be competitive in this sim...If that wasn't the case I would have struggled...and there lies the beauty...

Great community...helpful community...and great sim...It doesn't get any better than that...!

Welcome and have fun...
