I've managed to set up a spare PS4 controller to run on Win10. If interested, this is what you'll need to do...

1) Download DS4Windows from here (the actual DS4Windows website is down and has been for sometime)...
https://ds4windows.fileplanet.com/

2) Once you've extracted all the files, you will then need to download the actual driver from here and install it...
http://23.239.26.40/ds4windows/files/Virtual%20Bus%20Driver.zip

3) For further details, you can watch this and many other setup guides on YouTube...

In game, some of the settings already work such as movement and looking around, but you will need to create a profile in DS4 and then assign keys as you see fit.

Good luck...

So....Thicko here......can you do the same with an Xbox controller?

I got an elite (cos I really really needed those flipper things than I now don't use :-/).

In the early betas I found I could do some things with it but not others and the in game profile was bobbins for me.

It would greatly aid the immersion for me knowing I can fight with my feet up, reclined on my sofa with my tongue handing out of the side of my mouth..

There shouldn't be any reason why you can't. The DS4 software just emulates an Xbox controller, so there must be software out there to allow you to map it.

I would go and see a doc if your tongue hangs out the side of your mouth too much :-P

That look is considered terribly vulgar where I live unless accompanied by a pair of Y fronts perched jauntily atop ones head.

But then we are sticklers for propper etiquette here in Royal Sussex by Sea.

I did this and it worked fine using an x box one controller .

Once you have assigned the programme to "Post Scriptum" name your profile . I used the default x box profile named it Post Scriptum and then saved it.

Next time you launch DS4 it's all there ready to go . I'm not familiar with the x box controller so it'll take me a while to get used to it but if you are then you can jump straight in and play .

I hope the training option will be available as I would be reluctant to join a server at my skill level .:recon:

So today I gave PS and the xbox elite controller another go with Joy2Key filling in some gaps.

Since the first weekend betas the graphics seem much better (if still unoptimized) but the use of the controller is frustrating. After 4 hours of trying there are many WTFs with button presses activating things that they are simply not assigned to. Keeping stuff to the default though does pretty much work well. The only issue is when you try to assign a button- then you get the new command as well as the default (so opening the map will reload the gun, assiging the left trigger to sprint will either aim down sight or sprint randomly).

I assume this is something set elsewhere terms of how the controller emulates the mouse but, when combined with a very dispersed gui its an object in frustration.

Still a fews steps further - and i run over some dude in a bren carrier too so ive well earned my "noob" badge!! :-)

Hi Boo...

Although both PS4 and XBox controllers work with PS, it doesn't look like they can be edited and are stuck at some default setting. I've tried using the the DS4Windows to create a new profile for the game for my PS4 controller, but it just defaults to the standard setting.

I just find it easier moving and looking around in game with the PS4 controller than using my fat fingers on the keyboard!

You might be better in the long run persevering with the keyboard and mouse.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but you will be putting yourself at a significant disadvantage using an Xbox/PS4 controller when playing against others using keyboard and mouse.

Its one of the main reasons you don't get many PC/console first person shooter multiplayer crossover games. All things being equal, the PC players will pretty much always beat console players using controllers. Mice are way faster for looking around and aiming than the sticks on the controller.

With FPS games you need every advantage you can get, I used to play them competitively years ago and we would always get monitors with the lowest possible latency (<5ms), wired keyboard/mouse and always play on servers with the lowest ping, every (micro) second counts!

Totally get that but with no dask or option for one (living room TV - no spare room) the keyboard and mouse option isnt the easiest without risking RSI.

Ill look into some type of folding desk i think.
