Hi everyone,

Just throwing another bone out there. There has been much progress made on getting us back to what the original version "looked" like. There has also been a number of improvements, bug fixing, and content being worked on. Again, the main thing with the 1st release is flight models correction / atmospheric engine improvements.

So here's a few very much WIP screens:

Wow! The contrails in that last pic sure got the blood pumping! Two things come to mind:

1) presently we get contrails forming at about 21+ angels, so this pic indicates some high altitude dogfights -- something the current flight models don't really support.

2) I believe at this time contrails are only visible to the player producing them (when he's checking six or turning sharply). This pic indicates that contrails will someday be seen by everyone. :D

Next Question: Do you think you will manage to get the Morning-Fog back? I remember that this just blew me away when I saw it for the first time... Big immersion-Factor for me... (But certainly not most important for the game...)

None so far, but I will throw the caveat in that FPS effects on multiple contrails has not been thoroughly tested yet. Judging by the low resolution of the contrail texture and by how quickly it dissipates, I would expect an FPS hit to be marginal, but that is just a guess at this point.

Some of the team are working on this, and I believe it can be introduced again. (I also love the effect). But it's really early stages on that department so I can't promise anything yet :D

Hey bliss one question, in the early version we had a better head movement when the plane was moving, it was more "natural" it is planned to a version or included as a option of amount of head bob? Thanks

Hi Corleone,

Are you talking about more "head shake"? I haven't really noticed less head movement as patches have gone on, but I have noticed headshake has all but disappeared.

Yes head Shake, it was more natural and whit track ir, the best Experience, are plans to it? :salute:

I also liked having a bit of headshake, though I think the release version was way overdone. Our eyeballs and fluid in our body allows our vision to stay fairly balanced even in rough conditions. It's definitely something to consider though, but not on the priority of the 1st patch.

I flew that mission at high altitude (don't want to give away all the goodies yet). There were 10 bf-109's and 10 Spitfire's. I was recording the footage using FRAPS to check the FPS.

The resolution was 1920x1200, 4xAA. 16xAF and they frame-rate never dipped below 30-fps. I had high's of 85-fps.

All looking rather good and as Bliss said "judging by the low resolution of the contrail texture" which it is, I may test it with 40x40 ;)

Now Bliss, when your patch comes out, how will it be inititated? In other words, how will we install it? And if it's like Beta patches in the past, I guess this means that only servers running the Patch can be flown. Not a problem up front as I only fly ATAG, but just saying.

Best case we will have an installer that does it all for you where you can switch between stock/modded. Worst case is you drag and drop some files like a beta. Either way, it will be an easy install. And yes, it will be version dependent so you can only play on a server with the same version as you. :thumbsup:

Since you've posted the fire screen, I presume that the effect is going to be modded... Imho fire looks too transparent and too orange/yellow near its source. This is is a real Mig29 that caught fire midflight for comparison:

Thats fine, but look at this burning car (ie petrol, not kerosene) - same white streaks near fire's source, flame is not transparent at all.

That's a nice fire. I like fires.

Though I also think that in CloD the fires are too transparent and also too red/orange, I'd like some more Yellow/White at the source of the flame.

I would also like to say that I'm very grateful to the awesome mod team members who are putting in their effort to make Clod a more realistic and fun experience!

No Steam issues at all. It will even be a different version number etc. Only players with the same patch/mod will be able to join the matching online server etc. Lots of security :D

Awesome Bliss! Now with the ROF team goin into a wrong direction (abandoning an idea to support MP folks with FM fixes and introducing more units available in MP plus new ridiculous DM for wings) This is my last chance to play a hardcore sim of 21st century...Its time to install CLOD again....I thought all hopes are lost...

I have stayed away from Clod for the last 3-4 months.. Now I will come back! :)

Tell me Bliss are there any changes to icing in clouds? The icing in the clouds was rediculous. Is the team looking into removing the accumulation of ice after a few secs?? :))) Maybe we can start using the clouds as a tactical advantage instead of avoiding them!?! :)

In either case!! Awesome work! I will be back in CLOD! YAAAAY!
