Just raising awareness for this gem of a game on here.

https://www.huntshowdown.com/

What's this all about:
We're in Louisiana, USA, at the turn of the 19th/20th century and all hell has literally broken loose. Zombies and other foul creatures are roaming the countryside and are terrorizing its people. Some are however fighting back and make a dangerous living from hunting and banishing the hell spawns.

The basic game is set on a large map, 10 players per game session which can be either five 2-man teams or a mix of teams and solo players. The goal is to find and collect clues that eventually reveal the map location of a boss. You go to the boss, kill it and banish it back to hell which will reward you with bounty tokens that you can collect and turn into money when you manage to exit the game session alive and in one piece. Problem here is that there are other people around who have the very same intention as you and will fight you over the bounty.

So not only are you fighting the environment (PvE) but you are also confronting other players (PvP). The game is one of the most atmospheric I've played to date. Graphics are gorgeous (CryEngine) and the audio is perfect. Not only does it add to the atmosphere but it's part of the gameplay. Every little audio cue adds to your situational awareness and you will have to learn to interpret them in order to get better at the game. For example there's animals like crows, ducks and horses around that when you get too close will get scared and make a lot of noise thus giving away your position to other players.

The arsenal is a mix of historic weapons (Nagant revolvers, Colt Peacemaker, Winchester rifles, Mosin Nagant, Mauser C96, Sharps LRR, various shotguns,...) and more exotic ones including crossbows, sabres, machetes. Besides the firearms you get a wide range of tools (knifes, dusters, medkits,...) and consumables (explosives, tripmines, ...). Gameplay is surprisingly tactical & slow, run-and-gun will normally get you killed quickly because most weapons kill in 2-3 hits.

I've been playing this ever since it started into early access in Feb of last year and have spent almost 400 hours in it. Not regreted a single hour and am looking forward to the full release which is coming out on 27th August! I've got a bunch of gameplay videos on Hunt on my channel, come and have a look

What I totally forgot

The game has a perma-death mechanic. How that works is:

You purchase a hunter before going into a round. Depending on his equipment and traits he could either come for free or cost a few hundred or even a thousand $. When you get gunned downed in a round you are not immediately dead (unless you are playing solo) but can be revived by your teammate. Your overall health is split into chunks. Every time you get downed you lose one of them, when you lose your last one you are dead for good. To make matters worse you can be set on fire by other players when downed. When you are on fire you slowly lose your health chunks until you are either revived or dead. Lost health chunks can be regained either by starting a boss banishing or by purchasing them back via skill points that you earned during your last round by killing AI, killing players, collecting clues or killing/banishing the boss.

When your hunter dies in a round he is lost forever and everything he had on him (guns, tools, ...) are gone too. As hunters can be a big money investment every lost hunter hurts your pockets so this adds another incentive to play cool and tactical.

Looting the biggest, most powerful (per single shot) gun in the game off a dead player and using it to good effect.
When you hit someone with the Nitro at close range it leaves nothing behind but a pair of smoking boots :D
