I can't answer your first question other than to start with everything at medium settings and then work your way upwards, but as for moving from a 570 to a 670, I doubt you'd see much of a frame rate increase - IL2 CLOD is very CPU bottlenecked.

I dont have the 670 2GB, But I do have the 680 2GB and I can reccomend it for high fps, I have Vsync enabled and I can hit 60 FPS over London if needs be!

nah, the upgrade would be minimal.

I'm getting 40-60 with med/high settings at 1920x1080. But I am building a projection screen to use with a 1280x700 projector, so I changed to that resolution in order to get used to it. With that resolution and all high settings i am getting +100 fps.

So, maybe lowering the resolution is the answer. See my specs below.

Thanks , ill lower the res , and see what happens , it just starts stuttering when other aircraft are near by , or explosions going off , like a ship being sank , ect ect , I'll stick with my GTX570 for now ...:ind:

Try to push that CPU bit higher if you can. I have gtx560 Ti and no stutters but my CPU is on 4.5 GHz.

You have i7 2600k ?

Look here http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3697&p=36835&viewfull=1#post36835

For 4-4.2 GHz you probably don't have to increase the voltage.

ask reddog, he just got a new rig. his posts in the chat seems very positive. make sure your psu can handle it.

OK! Amazing - what this means? All settings on max and V-sync and SSAO on/max with avrg. fps of 50-60 over the land? Thats why i am looking to get new 780! With my 480 all settings on max v-sync and ssao - off(both) i have 20-30 avrg. fps over the land and 50-60 over the channel (and those 50-60 are really comfortable for me to play with!!!) So thats are my demands! :)

On which resolution you are playing? CPU speed is also important.

In my opinion everything over 670 is overkill for 1920 resolution. Some 670/680 owners with CPU over 4 GHz could say something more.
GTX770 is 680 with a bit higher GPU and memory clocks and should be more than enough for your demands and ~200 EUR cheaper.

Hi Vranac :salute: my demands are 50-60 fps over the land! I am running i5 2500K @ 3,7ghz ! for the moment i run on 1920 max but have plans to switch over to 2XXX !

Well, than gtx780 should be a good choice even if my opinion is that gtx770 would be enough. Our Russian friends did some testings with 780 and even Titan on sukhoi
but forum is down for a few days.Strange thing is that 780 is a bit faster than Titan, probably because of more conservative power target settings on Titan card.

You don't need to change your 2500K or mobo, because you'll not gain anything with Haswell. they run hotter and OC limit is much lower than on your CPU.
You could try to OC it, its really easy and you probably don't have to increase voltage for 4.2-4.3 GHz.

Don't know yet, but my GTX570 may have crapped out. If that is the case, I'm looking for some input on a possible replacement: EVGA 04G-P4-2673-KR GeForce GTX 670 Superclocked+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

I can get one for $415 + shipping

Thanks,

Why would you go with 670 when you can get 770 for that price ?
If it is because of 4 GB of VRAM don't bother with that, 2 GB is more than enough even @2560 resolution.

Jaws posted nice test about VRAM usage in another thread.Note that test is @5760.

Oooooh, Gaaaawwwwd.

I have a EVGA GTX570HD superclocked, and I've had it for nearly two years. I can fly Cliffs of Dover fine with it, with nary a problem. So how come I'm now sitting here wondering whether or not to splash out on something new? When my poxy Dell motherboard doesn't allow any more than 2.8GHz on my processor? It's akin to some sort of subliminal marketing if you ask me. Which you haven't. :D

'Need to spend some money!', - 'What about food and beer?' , - 'Sod food and beer, what you need is a new graphics card!!', - 'Oh, Ok.'. How many years can this go on for??? :D

Just a bit of ironic humour chaps, please don't anyone get offended. :salute:

Alright, I hadn't considered a 770 because I figured being new they would cost too much. But, it seems they aren't. So, they seem to have good reviews, and seem like a good deal IF my 570 really is US (unserviceable).

We shall see.

Hi All
I just went from a 560ti 1gig to a 760 2gig, as I was having slow downs with some maps with lots of clouds( france mainly). My min fps is now low 40's on said maps and almost always at 60 because of vsync.
The 760 costs $250+ and is just below a 670 in performance according to all the reveiws I have seen. The 670 is still well over $300+ even on sale. If you won the lottery go big but if you are cheap like me look at a 760.

I doubt you can find one.Vanilla gtx660 is a bit stronger than 570 but I would go with 660 Ti or 760 like Ohmie, nice card for that price.

What is happening with that 570 ?

A 660Ti would work or the Evga 670 FTW (that I bought) is really all you need to run Clod at those frame rates. I'm running mine at 120% overclock but honestly it does fine at the default (stock) settings.

Sunday night I tried to download the latest Nvidia drivers. I got a "download failed" notification and, when I rebooted the computer, I had nothing but a black screen. I'm taking it to a guy this afternoon to see what is wrong. Any ideas?

Thanks,

I think your card is ok.Something get wrong with installation process.

You can try to solve that, just hit F8 few times after you push power button and you'll boot into safe mode and you can uninstall driver from Control panel > Programs and features.
Then reboot in normal mode and download the last driver that worked for you manualy from nvidia site and install it.
Or you can try to roll back driver from Device manager, just right click on graphic card > Properties , driver tab but I'm not shure 100% that will get you to working driver,
last one before update.

EVGA 04G-P4-3778-KR GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

being delivered tomorrow. I can't freaking wait! I have not upgraded my video cards in 3 years...running 2xGTX 570's at the
moment. I think for the price these were hard to beat.
