In my offline missions I like to use the Beaufighter as a long range escort fighter. It's a great airplane, and with the appropriate skill it can be a tough opponent to the 109s (at least for my dogfighting ability). It's also the airplane that I would like the most to have flyable in CoD. It can bear an incredible amount of shots and still stay airborne, but I noticed that if it is hit on the outer wing section (beyond the engine nacelles) it catches fire immediately. I wonder if this is an historical feature or just a CoD oddity, as I don't think that fuel tanks could be placed in that position.

Unfortunately because the Beaufighter is non-flyable, there has been zero attention paid to it.

There are undoubtably many aspects of its performance and capabilities which are not accurate. However, because of higher priorities, we will not likely be looking at revisions for the 2nd Release.

The good news is that it is very high on the list of aircraft which we want to create cockpits for... and at that point it will be thoroughly examined and updated... sometime in a future release, no promises on dates.

These are great news! I'm llooking forward to that.

Great thread, great response. Thanks to you both.

The Beaufighter will certainly tempt my hand at multi-engines!

I would love this...especially as the 'Beau' had 4 x 20mm cannon.....Allies don't have cannon like the Axis does at the moment.....

I know what you mean about the Beau, I remember playing some great missions on iL2 1946 flying the Beaufighter attacking harbours in Norway in lousy weather. I have a thing for twin engined planes like the P38, but............ for some reason, and i can't put my finger on it, I've always liked the Dornier Do17. Now if that ever entered CoD as a playable.............oh yea!. It really raises my interest when I read a thread about the future of CoD and the plans TF has for it, it all seems so far away from what was thought possible not too long ago. Cheers.
