In a mission on the ATAG server not based around Hell Corner? Say, incorporating the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth etc? It'd mean much longer flight times for the Blues of course (and any Red's who wanted to vulch) which I'm guessing would put many off wanting to either play Blue, or play at all?

It'd be nice to play with some different landmarks underneath for a change!

Definately from my pov, been saying this for a while. Getting Tangmere Sector involved would be a nice change. But 'longer flight times for the Blues' says it all really. I suggested air starts for LW, but that takes half the fun away for 'em too. I'd love to use more of the map, but who would want to fly for 30mins to an hour over water, just to fall foul of our mate 'bofors'? :D.

I'd love it!

The long flight times for Blue is a major detriment to be sure. Perhaps a "what if?" scenario that has Germany already in possession of a significant chunk of British soil where it's least expected?

This was tried some time back, but became very unpopular. I think the historical question-ability was cited as the main complaint. I think that CloD players need to accept that the channel was,. and should be, a determining feature of the Battle of Britain. If it were not for the Channel, there wold not have been a BoB.
For that reason, the best place for such a mission is probably France, and not on UK soil.

I'd love to see a Southampton/ Tangmere <-> Abbeville/ Cherbourg mission.
The channel flight could be tempered by having some shipping half way?
But, when it comes down to it, this part of the map is seldom used in ATAG missions. can you imagine how boring it would be if there were only 10 people online?

In the end, I suspect that what will allow such mission is greater player base. Maps could conceivably have objective both around the Hawkinge/ Maston area AND the Tangmere/ Southampton area. Such mission would be viable with 100+ players online, providing server stability and low pings could be maintained.

yes this sounds quite interesting and it would be quite nice to see a different piece of the countryside.

as some one did mention. only if it would be possible to have large bomber waves with escort and all.
the mission could end after the bombers have made it back to france.
if blue has X% of the bombers left they win... or hell why even have a winner.

red could spend the first stage joining up and getting alt while blue players could either meet up with the bombers or spawn on them if that is a possibility.
this way we would have a big battle going on.

Of course, in order to use more of the map, we could have a 'Battle of France' Scenario, as has been mentioned on numerous occasions. However, for accuracy, this would mean that the 'Reds' would be limited to early Hurricanes.

I'm more than up for that. Bring it on, I say.

I was thinking that the longer flight in for the Blues would mean that they might be more careful with their virtual lives, on the otherhand it almost guarantees that anyone with damage will stay and fight until the end, rather than try and get home I reckon.

I'll put something together over the weekend and see what the flight times are like.

i think there will always be a small % of players who want the longer flights to remote areas of the map not usually used. but since 95% of the players fly 109s/spits there really isn't an interest. the old op daisy map had a nice flight up to london, that was nice. the map with the lewes station is nice too but, few people engage in that.

Funy is that when CLoD was rush... ops launched some people complained about the map dont covers more North area of England... :)

Now people ask for Malta map - but unless they come in small (25%?) scale a straight flight from south of Scicily to Malta take more than 30 minutes...

Or perhaps come with some "Fantasy Island" at 20KM around for Lw/Regia Aeronautica. :)

In any case better than those float runway of il-2:1946 (I see in some MP server, near... Malta). whaa

I like this idea. I don't mind the long flight times if I am blue, but right now the maps frequently reset before I can even use a full tank of gas. Not much point in long flight times if the maps reset because some static ground objects were destroyed.

i say..battle over the channel till one side can invade the other.. once that happens, then one person " the rabbit" spawns in a bright red sports car, and has to drive to a pre determined spot on the map. it becomes a race to kill him..or protect him... haha :) :maddriver:

Salute

I plan to use the area between Normandy and Portsmouth for a mission, which hopefully will be available sometime after TF 4.0 comes out.

It will use a lot of Bf-110's and Blenheims and focus on Convoys and anti-shipping missions.

We also will be providing server setups in other areas of the Channel map for some of the other new features we are releasing, stay tuned for exact locations. :-)

And of course, we will have the Autumn and Winter maps, plus in the near future hope to take you to some more sunny climes.
