I am also in the process of building a Hurricane cockpit and thought I'd post a few pics of my home built Hurricane bucket seat,it's all made out of wood,so no armour plate on this version, lol,it's still not finished but I hope to get it completed soon.

I still have to mount it on a solid structure to take my weight, but I also want to be able to adjust the angle of the seat when sitting in it and this will be the headache, there is also a beeding to add around the edges of the sides.

Being made of wood it has it's limitations,I initially wanted to be able to put a bend vertically through the seat back as like the real thing, but this just was'nt possible, well not with my skills anyway.

The bottom pic is the original of course, hehe not my effort.

That looks good mate..

Have you thought about mounting it to an old car seat bracket? from an oldish car that has all the manual levers...it would give you forward and back (probably not needed) but certainly tilt which is what your looking for

The problem is that now you have to make a fake parachute to sit on :-)

Hello, your seat looks awesome :salute:
On the bottom picture "Pilot's seat from mk I" by Crown. Is it a book or plan of the seat ?
Best regards, Czary.

If I recall,I got it from the net,but it was a long time ago,so can't be sure.

Hi, around one year ago I bought a DVD with Hurri plans, but sadly there is not many reference drawings for the cockpit :/ How do you determine dimensions of the cockpit/seat ?
The other source I've got is 1/32 cockpit kit for Hurricne (GMAB3201 Hurricane Cockpit set 1/32).
Cheers !
