I don't know if there's a name for the new mission, but I flew it for a bit yesterday and really like it. "Heard" via chat of a large bomber formation at 20k inbound near Dover. Messages described an ongoing running battle between escorts and red interceptors. I vectored towards the expected path of the bombers and the large mass of bomber specks came into view. I then soon picked up the swirling mass of battling fighters all around the bombers...reds trying to get to the bombers, blues diving in on them, some breaking off and taking their individual fights lower, new blues and reds feeding into the fight. Lone reds and lone blues looking nervous as they either broke for home or tried to regain contact with the bombers. I never even got a shot at a bombers, every time I maneuvered for position I found a 109 maneuvering on me. This was easily the best representation of the battles I've read about in numerous pilot memoirs. I'm still learning how to use the ground control feature (Tab 4,1...) and locations of the radar sites and landmarks for these inland parts of the map.

I hope folks will continue to fly it as the roles intend, it really can be quite immersive and a nice break from the constant low-level fighting that tends to dominate other missions.

Thanks to the mission author and ATAG for hosting.
