View Full Version : Fiat G.50 engine temperature gauge not working...

Hello,
here I am again in pointing out small bugs in the italian aircrafts.

I was having a blast online tonight with the Fiat G.50 but... I found out that the engine temperature gauge in the cockpit doesn't work.

If you switch to the cyl.heads temperatures, the temperature shown is always 30°, it never changes...

Also in the OFF position, it just shows the "30°" temperature there.

I found out also another bug, this time in the "animation" of the plane.
When the guns are fired, you can see that the big button above the control column is depressed...
This is historically incorrect.
That button above the control column in the italian fighters was used for braking, not for firing.

In order to fire the main weapons, there was a "finger-trigger" handle on the column.
It can be seen in the game, on the left part of it.

In order to fire, the pilot switched this finger-trigger handle from the right position, to the fore position. In that case,
the handle looked like a normal machine-gun trigger. It could be pressed with the right hand, in the same manner as if firing a normal gun.

In THIS WEBSITE (http://www.modellismochepassione.it/cloche-di-aereo-da-caccia-italiano-fiat-g50-freccia-mod-a/) you can clearly see how it was made in reality.

Here it is:

5121

You can see three buttons/levers used in a control column used on a Fiat G.50bis fighter-bomber.
The big top button was for breaking the main wheels.
The finger-trigger seen here on the left was for firing the main machineguns
The small button on the right was used to release the wing-bombs
(the photo is taken from the front-left view)

I hope these small bugs will be patched up in the next updates. :salute:

Cheers

Thumb operated brakes?

These Italian guys are more complicated than English. :D

Nice pictures, thank you.

I dont test online, but offline G.50 "Telepirometro Elettrico" work:

Good to know, but online it doesnt. It has been reported and TF is aware of it.

The "Telepirometro elletrico" bug is not online related.

Is related with "cold starter", happens in SP too.

If you start engine and select one sensor, the instrument read 30º and stay.

If you select the sensor before start the engine, after ignition the needle go to left until hidden and show a negative reading:

In missions that start in flight or on runway with engine idle work OK.

The cylinder head temp fix will be in TF 4.01.

Just a convenience problem but as I hate ending a sortie with engine on: Would be nice to have a way to turn off the engine in the G.50 (by switching the magnetos off?).

Not sure if this minor G.50 bug already was mentioned:

Dui, theres a little trick to shut the engine - Just set the mixture to lean and it will "drown" the motor as long you have the throtle foward. Eventually stops it.

You can set a key to switch the magnetos off, in "options > controls > plane". It works.

Yes, but notice that are two kind of switch for magneto: toggle and rotary, each type for specific planes.

When I am switching the magnetos off by clicking the cockpit it does not have any effect. Do you mean that it does have by pressing the right key?

Yes, only work if use key. It's explained why here:

When click the last position (OF) is not registered. Due this is need use key, but for the right type of switch (toggle or rotary). :)
