Sorry to be a dummy, but not flown the Blenhiem yet beyond (failed) attempts in the sim, if one was to say, have been swotting up re the blenheim but not really keen with the whole bomb sight thing.. can you maybe automate the bomb sight so you can fly in, aim, press the button to drop the bombs then clear off? Or do you need to operate the whole bomb sight targeting system also?

Again sorry for asking which might be a simple question,

Nobody's keen with the Blenheim (or the BR20) bomb sight :D. Things got better after TF gave us at least an auto pilot, before while operating the bomb sight you also had to control the stick and the throttle with your second and third hand :)

go to controls go to aircraft and look for, drop ordinance. it'll be under fire mg's and cannon. assign a button. this you can use from the pilots seat.

you only be able to use this low level. you never hit the target from any sought of height.

You just what you need do

Fly straight and level on course to target.
Engage the autopilot - make necessary correction on autopilot course.

Go to bombardier position
Watch what are your
Speed (IAS)

Input on the values on bombsight - so they automatically calculate the impact point. :D
Wait the bombsight crosshair pass over the target.

Drop the bombs (button or key assigned or click on yellow buttons on navigation table).

Level bomb require practice, but eventually you are able to hit a moving ship.

A good tutorial here:

The easy way is dive or skip bombing.

Try this

A bare bones guide to help fighter pilots get a blenheim off the ground and skip bomb a ship with minimum of fuss.

The TF4 Auto pilot has 2 modes Course and 22. Mode 22 essentially flies the Directional Gyro set to 0. i.e. if the DG is reading 270 then you can expect the aircraft to turn until the DG reads 0. So best way to use it is.

Get the aircraft Stable speed and altitude wise, trimmed out to fly hands free.
Get the aircraft more or less tracking towards the target.
Before engaging mode 22 set the DG to 0.
Engage Mode 22 Auto pilot.
Jump in the Bomb aimers station.
You can then vary the DG heading as required Left and Right to get the target tracking down the Tracking wires.
Small incremental "Blips" to adjust the DG ... don't just hold down the key as you will over control. small 1-2 degree adjustments are the key.

Mast level attack on RL are not the game "milk run" . :devilish:

I could also dig out video footage of a convoy being attacked at mast level and not being able to hit any of the bombers even as they cross the deck at 30ft. In CLOD sometimes you get away with no noticeable damage but speaking for myself I have to limp home with leaks and/or missing control surfaces the majority of the time so it is not a 'milk run' for me. I feel they have it about right in CLOD.
