In order to get more depth in missions and to promote more "return to base" I was thinking of a new mission scenario.
Lets play with the idea that each side spawn with 300planes and 300 pilots (the numbers are only examples) First side to lose 300 pilots or 300 planes loses.
In order to score a kill and reduce the enemy´s remaining planes, one will have to return to base and "report the kill" in order to get it confirmed.(Basically a successful landing at any home base)
A frontline must be drawn across the channel.
When you are damaged and knowing that you wont make it back to base, its important to get across this border, at least when ditching in the water, you will save the pilot (could be a 50/50 chance of being picked up by search and rescue). Your team will as a concequence lose a plane but keep one pilot. Assuming that you dont kill him during the ditching which is hard honestyl.. If a landing has to be done on a random field, not airfield, but a normal field.(on friendly side of course) due to damage, assuming the landing is smooth, the pilot will survive, and the plane will also survive. This is assuming that the damage it not too great on the aircraft (not sure if this is possible for the server to determine damage) so one would have to be careful when emergency landing on an open field in order to keep the plane in one piece.
For kill stats, I as an individual shoot down planes for my team so my team can win the map. I must land these kills to have them confirmed. However the normal game/player stats can of course still be kept so you can monitor you own personal kill, no matter if you survived or not. Just like it is today. However your own kills on the player list are what the game has counted, NOT the server!! Thr server would only count landed kills.
The benefit of this is a lot more realistic game play, people will think twice before going too far over the channel. People will take less risks(or at least thats the thought) and people will start to actually return to base in order to end their sortie.
Currently on all server maps, there is nothing stoping you, while still airborn, from pressing "esc" and then "create" and respawn at a new field when you run out of ammo or if you just are too lazy to return to base. And honsetly why should you return to base? There is no benfit in it at the moment. There is no reward to do this.
Some players will never care about team play and stats or realism or scores. Well thats fine as this type of player will be found in equal numbers on each side.
You will always have players, just like you do today, who will take off, head straight for the closest base and do strafing and get them selves killed. Let them do this! The point is that all should have fun! These guys wont log any kills on the server as they dont return to base but this is fine as they dont care about points anyway and as mentioned before, they will affect each side equally.
For those who like more depth in the missions, they would feel great when landing a kill or two, knowing that they contributed to their team. I would be one of these.
For bomber pilots, im still thinking how they can be encouraged to fly missions. Maybe using factories as targets and when these factories are detroyed, the opposing team will lose, lets say 25 aircraft. (no aircraft production) Im asking for your ideas here!! :)
Ideally there would be a website with statistics where pilot can check how well they contribute to winning the map. Alternatively an TAB command where one can communicate with the server and check his own scores etc etc?!?
So pls come with some ideas how this could be made working!
Or am I completely out of reality here?!
Cheers
