ok, just reloaded 3.00 and find it fantastic compared to vanilla, colours so rich, sound better etc .. but i've also noted a few bugs. The one that's alloying me the most ATM is bomber swaying back and forth (see picture). Why do following bombers have this swagger ? too close to lead aircraft ?

agree it is weird. avoiding flak?

really looks strange with torp bombers low to the water.

We are currently tearing our hair out trying to find a solution for this... :grrr:

I've done abit of testing, swagger seems to be in COD final production release so is not a Mod bug.

It is definitely exacerbated by the mod. For Storm of War missions in TF4.0 I found if you slow the bombers down they won't do the crazy pendulum swings. I am using 270 for Do 17/Ju 87, 300 for He 111, & 330 for J88 with good results.

Agree with Notafinger that reducing speed makes things better. I've always used speeds a little lower than those quoted (alt dependent)
Have seen this behaviour since early (official) versions of CoD- first noticed it in 109's doing a fast(ish) straight descent.

Can't say wether it's worse in TF4.0 as haven had hardly anytime to fly since it's release but I didn't notice any real change with TF 3.00

i've done more testing, it appears to be a He111 problem - Dos and Ju88 seem fine. All travelling @ 270, which helped a tad but not much over 300

He111 foreground - then 3 ju88s - then 3 Dos

Gets quite bad here ..

I test (QM- Bomb intercept - London) at 270KM/H, they fly almost straight. :P

"Collateral effect", his gunners have better platform to fire. :devilish:

It's an easy fix, I remember I just changed the ai advanced flying skill slider, or perhaps it was the basic flying skill slider? Anyway just change one of those 2 parameters to a small level and you'll find the he111 stop doing it. Easy fix

Thanks TradeMe900, that workround did the job.

Funny i have to set speed of my JU88s to 280 and my Do17s to 300 for them to fly together, otherwise the Dos fall behind ?

Because Do 17's can't do 300kmh. What people don't seem to realize is that even though the FMB might allow you to put 400kmh for the speed of the a/c it is still restricted by weight & performance. Do 17's don't go much faster than 280.

No worries. Was it advanced flying level or basic flying level? Did you notice much difference between the 2?

I don't think it is fully understood exactly what basic flying and advanced flying control- the only thing really visible are the silly and impossible barrel rolling from ai fighters with advanced flying... that's it. Would like to know exactly what effect basic flying level has.

Advanced flying (like the other skill settings influences several behaviours, and interacts with other skill settings). This makes it hard to write a definitive guide to them.
The advanced flying affects manouvering, In addition to barrel rolling (now mostly reduced) it controls ability to pull up from high speed dives- too aggressive settings for bravery and tactics and a low adv flying skill can lead to AI pilots getting into irrecoverable dives (aka lawndarting) This is before TF4.0 added to the mix.
If you have aggressive settings with a high adv flying skills but a low basic flying the AI can get out of control in other ways, possibly entering a spin.

The interactions between skill settings are sometimes quite subtle and can be altered by other external circumstances.

That's my experience from building missions anyway

I tried Advanced = 0 and Basic = 75 - 100% but still had problem so just gave up and did 0% for both, it worked. similar problem i had with Defiant, had to set pilot to "novice" and gunner to "ace" to get any realism.

As to bomber speeds, would have been nice if COD developers had set default speeds to ACTUAL aircrafts best operating speed, not just 300 for everything. They would know better than any gamer what a best operatng speed would be.

So what does basic flying do?
