Spent last night and this morning fiddling and working things out, lots of changing keys, settings and stuff, working through it all slowly and carefully.

If i ran into problems(and there were a few) looked through the bug threads and other places, went back in, changed more bits and pieces and checked if it worked, if it didn't, i fiddled some more till it did.
So tonight, after just 1 day of sorting things out, im there.

Everything that's in the sim is working fine, controls all working as they should, settings perfect and SweetFX added.

WOW, stunning, what a fantastic job devs!

Runs great, looks fantastic, sound awesome.

Anyway, here is a few screen shots i took tonight, they look how i feel...

This just after 1 year of development, still 5 months from release and still in alpha.

This is the start of something very good.

I should add though, there are lots of little bugs still to be squished, don't want to it to seem as if its perfect right now, because its not.

Can all joystick setting be set in game or is there a need to use joystick software?

All axes are adjustable in game.

Nice pix Furbs, very nice..

The bitmapping and textures they have on the surface of the plane are something to be desired, not noticeable until you get up close....lovely
Yes all axis are adjustable including your curves!...hallalooya!, infact the interface they use for that is great and very easy to use/understand. Basic nice and easy info

Trims are not working right now

Looking good.

I've seen a fair few images and they look great, but very little info on the simulation side of the sim. Anyone got a write up regarding the fidelity of the sim?

Hey Tommy,

I finally managed to spend some time on the sim tonight. Wow.

I must have spent at least 1 hour taxiing around, looking at the intricate suspensions work, the airframe vibrate with life as the engine purrs, correcting and anticipating the reactions of what is by far the most realistic rendition of ground behaviour ever seen in a simulator.

For the first time you get to feel your aircraft as a heavy thing sitting on the ground: the inertia, friction, precession and torque contending the direction of your aircraft as you throttle your way around.

And the feeling in the air is just superb: the center of gravity is so spot on, the response is progressive and fluid, and it's so immersive that I swear I could have felt the sensation of feedback, even if my joystick doesn't have it as a feature.

As a real life pilot, I can say this truly and incredibly behaves so much like the real thing, and it does justice to the trickiest and most delicate parts of flying, which are landing and taking off, where you have to think ahead and predict what your aircraft is going to do. No guesswork, just follow the procedures, speeds and rates, or it will turn back and bite you.

Last but not least, the details: the surface bump mapping, the reflections, the minutest of details.. all of these little things together show how this sim is not just a sim, but it's a work of true passion and dedication, achievable only with painstaking research and work.

In a way it feels a lot like when the first IL-2 came out years ago: a milestone, an unprecedented labour of love and passion.

This product has picked up on that heritage and taken it a step further: this is not just a milestone, as I said in the title of the thread, we're witnessing the making of a masterpiece.

The best money I've spent in quite some time, and if this is just the 35% of what we'll get, I just can't wait to see the rest.

Congratulations to all involved, you really outdid yourselves and knocked it out of the park!

How did you get to fly at sunset? All the missions I've tried to fly are full day or full night...

Pick the afternoon mission, shut down the aircraft, 16x time with the "]" key, go make a bacon sarnie and a cup of tea, eat, drink, come back and check sky, slow time back to normal with the "[" key, Replete as necessary.

Ok, here's another tail dragger pilots view..

Hey guys. I thought I'd give my short 2 cents seeing as I fly high performance piston taildraggers on a daily basis for my job/general enjoyment. Nothing like the 1200 horsepower LaGG, but my forte is Pitts Specials, Piper Pawnees, and Extra 300's, and Super Decathlons.

Ground Handling: You guys hit the nail on the head with how a tailwheel reacts on the ground. Ground looping is a serious concern in any taildragger and you guys made it obvious that the airplane needs to be handled just as carefully on the ground as it does in the air. The way the airplane bounces and reacts to different types of pavement/snow is stunning and it's something I really haven't seen before in any sim. Bravo.

Takeoffs and Landings: Again, perfect interpretation of how a taildragger needs to be paid attention to through all phases of flight, especially the takeoff and landing. There's a certain finesse that no sim has been able to capture. Somehow, someway, you guys did it. The airplane feels heavy on the takeoff roll and it reacts just as a real taildragger should. Bounce and swerve recovery is great. Ground effect handling seems to also be present in the sim and works just the way I thought it should. Landings in a taildragger is an especially difficult process to grab at. You need to be way ahead of the airplane. I noticed in the crosswind mission you guys paid attention to how a taildragger reacts if you aren't lined up correctly when you touch down. If you touch down sideways, it's not going to be pretty. Three point landings with full flaps in a crosswind are BIG no-no's in the types of airplanes I fly, and it's apparent that the developers paid extra attention to this.

There's so much more to talk about, but I don't want this to drag on.

This is simply an amazing sim already. You guys should be proud of what you have made so far.

Wow I'm always so amazed that people with your life experience still find flight simming entertaining (I'm very jealous).

Hehe. I strted the 4:30PM mission, shut of the engine 16xspeed and went downstairs to do my laundry. In the way back, I grabed a fresh beer from the fridge and when I got to the computer everything looked interesting and colorful.
Back to 1x speed, one sip of beer, engine on, chocks away and up we go in the beautiful golden hour. :)

Thanks man, sounds very cool.

I think I'll get it in the New Year, no time to fly anything right now and the game should be a bit further down the dev road. A time restricted alpha flight sims sounds horrendous. :)

"Its full of stars"

Thankyou Arthur C. Clarke. It's one of my favourite films/books too. :D

But so is 'Skyrim'. 'Full of Stars' that is. The aurora in the sky is very well done, the two moons loom over the landscape in a very convincing manner. If there is one game I would mortgage my soul for an Occulus Rift for, it would be Skyrim. But I haven't tried 'Star Citizen' yet. Yet.

But the LaGG flies well. I like it. When all the cockpit instruments work, it might be worth pursuing, but not yet.
