Hi Team Fusion, love your work, you truly are keeping the dream alive.

My only beef at the moment is most everyone flys so low on our server, blues and reds, it makes me sad to see people on the arcade servers flying higher than we do, can't there be some incentive to get people up, friendly fire from flak if you stay too low for a period of time, lots of great pilots have lost their lives to friendly fire from flak, maybe if you are high above their airfields it will trigger an AI bomber strike, it would be great to get some ideas flowing and take a poll on what could be implemented.:salute:

Maybe there can be triggers or something that will activate AI bombers or fighters when you fly in a certain area and altitude for a certain amount of time. Although this could cause fps issues or even crashes. Instead of a warning of 9 or more bombers being spotted in a certain area and heading, maybe we can have 9 or so fighters in high altitude formation coming over to patrol and attack only at certain altitudes in certain areas... Although again that could cause issues or might not even work depending on code. New Ideas are always welcome as long as it relates to the BOB and can be implemented.

The reason why all the fighting is at ground level now is because we have blue airfields in england starting right next to red, etc. Before this it was no problem.

Fully agree with you, it's taking the fun out of flying on atag. In my opinion if we want to fly arcade dogfights then there are always the dogfight servers, but atag as it was in the past was always the place to go for channel battles and surprise attacks 'out of nowhere', at all altitudes.

Gameplay has nothing at all to do with Team Fusion. You should direct your query to the 'ATAG Missions' bit of the forum.

Preferably.

This is both true and untrue.
ATAG has as a mainrule to not force players to fly in a certain way as this might limit the fun for players who only have, say 20mins, a day to play. While this might be true, it also leads to many arcade maps such as Dunkirk and the Littlestone map where people leave because all there is is low alt furballs over the airfields.

Salmo has a new mission on test right now(check this link)

and I encourage everyone to try it out as this map after some tweaking can be great fun and something different!

Frankly, players will choose to do what they enjoy irrespective of any attempts to change a particular type of 'play'. Some of the maps do encourage low alt simply because of the mission objectives.

Is there anything that could be done to get more players at alt?

Simple fact - maps that have no AI bombers have fewer players at altitude. Last night a call was made on ATAG TS that a large formation of bombers were heading to 'good old blighty' along with nine AI 109 escorts at about 23K on their high six. Amongst the escorts was a player making for a total of ten 109's all making contrails - it was fantastic to see!

This particualr map normally has a lot of 'down on the deck activity' but, shortly after that call out, Hawkinge may have been rapidly abandoned as a number of Reds raced to intercept. It was great, with fighter v fighter contrails and some reds attcking the bombers while the 109's were kept busy.

There you go, a proper BoB experience and initiated at high altitude. Unfortunatey the AI aren't too clever and eventually you can spot the player opponent but the AI do make it very difficult.

May be that is one way to encourage more high alt players - give the bombers AI escorts and maybe, just maybe- more players will join those escorts to defend/intercept.

Is it possible for mission builders to trigger AI bomber strikes when players fly over airfields online, or for players to select where the bombers should target? How cool would it be to mouse click on the map and call in a strike, jump in your plane and cover them to target.

Nice reports on the mission. Let's see if I'll get to play that one soon! Sounds like a lot of fun.
