Injerin found this fix on the DCS forum

Edit your tracer_bullet_red.lods file found in .../Bazar/World/Shapes folder

values are like this

lods = {
{"tracer_bullet_red.edm",600.000000};
{"tracer_bullet_red-LOD.edm",2000.000000};
{"tracer_bullet_red-LOD2.edm",1000000.000000};
};

The last one is excessive... who would see tracers 1000km away? Also, I don't understand why 6 decimals in these lods files. Precision?

Try changing it to

lods = {
{"tracer_bullet_red.edm",600};
{"tracer_bullet_red-LOD.edm",2000};
{"tracer_bullet_red-LOD2.edm",10000};
};

It should improve your FPS when firing guns in the P51.

I could barely run more than 2 aircraft before the tweak. I tested it with Injerin online and offline. Online we had about 12-20 aircraft and FPS was pretty solid (except for a few unre. Offline I was able to run with 40 P51 and 40 Fw190s dogfighting at a solid 60 FPS. I tried going up to 160 but my video card told me to go f*** myself at that point.

Give it a try, see if it improves your FPS when shooting guns. Unfortunately it doesn't stop you from getting shot down by sharpshooting AI, but the bailout sequence is smooth.

I hope they sort such things in Edge for WWII.

It sorts it pretty well for me. 80 planes in a 1km area all dogfighting at 60 FPS. Pretty much a wet dream.

Now if we can get that in MP without lag, we're golden for DCS WWII

Intresting gun fire always cause huge fps drop in DCS P-51. I wonder why ED couldn't fix it for such long time.

Now i need my force fedback stall buffet effect back to retun to fly P-51

Just to clarify this is from the ED forums. Injerin posted the problem and he got a reply of a 'possible' fix, which seems to work really well.

That's a nice number! Yeah... I can't stop imagining intercepting B-17s or escorting them or attacking ground targets.... oh well. I am kind of expecting a revival of SWOTL in a very modern way with DCS WWII.
