Is there some way to replace the default background_gb and background_de music tracks? I have kdn_music1 and kdn_music2 but whatever I do, including renaming the tracks I want as background_gb etc and even deleting the entire music folder, the default tracks just keep coming back.

You need convert the music for .OGG and save with the same names (background_de.ogg, ..gb.ogg).

And for add new music:

Thank you. I'm still not sure how it can recreate a music folder with the original music if I delete it, but I've done what I wanted now. I was on the right track, and I wonder if the secret is in making the new background_gb and _de read only to prevent the originals from overwriting them.

I have converted five tracks, including the Aces High Luftwaffe March from "The Battle of Britain" and uploaded to Airwarfare.com

Next question: is it possible to add background music to recorded flights, or would that need something like FRAPS?

i think the music goes in the softclub folder! not your steamapps folder!

Aha! The default background_gb and background_de are in both Steam and Softclub locations.
