Hey boys... F19_Klunk here - an old IL2 veteran flying in F19 Squadron http://www.svaf.net.

I am quite new in here and really appreciate your work with this yet to be finished sim ;) ... so a big thank you for a swell job!

I am still an avid il2 pilot and will fly CloD only from time to time until the product is more finished

Just a question. I have flown a few times now, both on blue and red side and I have noticed that when flying allies there is ALWAYS 4-5 109s circeling red aerodromes to shoot down planes taking off...
I have no problem with a few strafing rounds from time to time, but this is getting kind of rediculous :D
Am I the only one who have an issue with this?

Unfortunately no but we are exploring various ways of trying to deal with it.

Firstly, welcome to the forum and the server.
Strafing the oppositions airbase is a time honoured and noble pursuit and does
help relieve boredom when there is not much happening on the server.
Having said that it was getting a lil out of hand for the red side when a certain
group of pilots clocked on for duty on the blue side and used the superiority of
the 109 to tear up a given red base. The introduction of a few available Spitfire
MkIIa's helped to tone that down somewhat and even enable the red side to do
some spawn killing of their own.
There are limits to what can be done in terms of more AI to give them something
else to shoot at or increasing flak as the more AI that is inserted the more it will
lag up the entire server. Airbase strafing becomes more of an acute problem
when there is a significant disparity in team numbers. I find that the more people
that are on the server the more it will tend to balance out but when there are less
u may find there can be a 2 or 3 to 1 ratio imbalance. As the planes on each side
are very different, pilots tend to have a preference for one side or the other and
some are very inflexible and will stay on their specialised plane set no matter how
obviously imbalanced it is.
So....the answer is is that there is no obvious immediate qwik fix. We don't wan't
to go down the path of server generated auto team balancing (not even sure if
that is possible anyway in CloD). If one airbase is obviously unflyable pick another
one. Getting on TeamSpeak is a real plus for co-ordinating defensive measures
but alas some don't take advantage of it.
Anyway, keep coming and I'm sure u will have some of the best flight sim fun u
can have and as the sim improves I'm sure more and more 'ol 46ers will make the
permanent change.
Salute,
Torian

Welcome to our server Klunk. I'm not sure if there is much more I can add to what Headshot and Torian put so well other than to second what Torian mentioned about using TS3 and mixing up your bases to avoid hot spots.

We try to be as laid back as possible and want everyone to get the most enjoyment as they can out of the game and we hope that others cooperate and fly with a certain sense of fair play. Unfortunately this doesn't always happen and the state in which the game now stands doesn't offer up many solutions.

So hook up with a good group of guys, use comms and have some fun.

Hi Klunk
The advise from the ATAG guys is bang on.Teamspeak is almost a must have item, without it your on your own.I only fly Red and all the folks on TS3 are team players and will help anyone out if you need it.They will come and cover bases if needed etc.

Hi Klunk and welcome.

The biggest thing I can suggest is that there are airfields located quite a ways inland (10 minute flight back to the edge of the coast of the channel) that have the Spit1a/Hurri (Rotol) and I have yet to ever see an enemy that far inland that wasn't a lost bomber.

Part of the joy and frustration alike can be spawning at the near coastal regions on both sides and seeing all the flak, enemies, and action going on. But if it's too hot, I just spawn further away. It might be hard to see some of the further airfields depending on your screen res/how far you're zoomed in on the main map screen, but those fields (away from all the action) are there ;)

Strafing is not only tolerated but graded within some circles on both sides :dthumb:

Hey Klunk, Welcome!

As you gain more airtime those cappers will become fodder down the road for you and your wingmen:cowboy
