Propeller Pitch

I use Logitech G940 HOTAS ( and no, HOT. ASS) LOL LOL LOL

I got two axes throtlle at the left hand
One set for propeller pitch and one for throtlle

8078

so, is it correct

100% pitch 100% throtlle
050% pitch 050% throtlle
000% pitch 000% throtlle

I know about dive 0% propeller pitch
and about climb 100% propeller pitch

well ???

It's opposite sw1ive my friend. Dive would be 100% pitch (8:30) and climb 0% (12:00) or as fine/flat as possible. I'm also assuming your taking about the 109 with electric pitch control that the pilots sets pitch. CS propellors the pilot selects rpm and the system "varies" the pitch under a given power setting to maintain that rpm.

There is no hard fast setting as P50%/T50% etc..or 100% or 0%. You set power and pitch for a given situation Climb, cruise, landing, and everything in between to keep the engine "happy" and get max performance.:salute:

"109 wise" use a axis to control Propeller Pitch just make things awkward, because
in this plane PP is controlled by a "momentary ON-OFF-ON" switch (return to center).

So use a HAT under left thumb is more appropriate (as in Bf 109 E-4) (or even the mini-stick, if not used for other function).

In Bf 109 the only thing that can take advantage of this extra axis is oil radiator (have proportional control).

PP, Flaps and water radiator need a "press and hold" command.

For use in flaps you can "cheat" with bands on HOTAS program (using timing) and set 10, 20... full flaps based on axis position.
Same for water radiator (eg. close, 50% on axis center, full open).

I think sw1ive is flying RAF aeroplanes mostly.

Sw1ive no, keep your rpms 2650- 3000 depending on the flight regime and engine temperatures. 2200-2400 if you're saving fuel.

PP on 0% only if you're gliding home without engine.

For Spit Ia & IIa you use 100% pitch to take off then reduce it to somewhere between 85% & 50% not long after. If you use the prop pitch to keep the rpm between 2700 & 2750 then you can run at full throttle indefinitely without blowing the oil gaskets.

When you are joining the circuit to land and are below 200mph then it helps to put the pitch back to 100% as it slows you down quicker while also giving max acceleration and so allows you better control of your speed during the approach. As Vranac said, the only time you would use 0% pitch is if your engine is dead and you want to be able to glide as far as possible because this sets the propellor blades nearly edge on to the wind so giving less drag.
