View Full Version : G50 external sounds porked

External sounds for the G50 drop in and out, particularly at high rpm. Internal sounds are fine.

(The guns, on the other hand, sound fantastic).

Is there a way to roll back to the old engine sounds for the G50?

I don't think this is new for 4.3, I've had G50s buzz me on an airfield prior to 4.3 and all I heard was wind sound.

This bug has been present since the last original patch.

We are working on fixing it for the next patch.

Odd i never noticed before, despite many hours in the ugly humpback.

question stands though, were the g50 engine sounds changed and can I roll back somehow?

The internal sounds had a little bass added, The external sounds are the original sounds and haven't been touched.

There isn't a way to rollback the G.50 engine sounds and even if you could, it would not resolve the bug as this is specific to the sound engine and not related to the sounds themselves.

Hope this helps

Sorry to persist, but I am not sure I get that explanation. If it is a problem with the sound engine (and not something TF has done) why is the G50 external sound in my vanilla install perfectly fine?

I have one install of CoD which is pure vanilla, and the second which is modded.

Same mission in vanilla, sounds are fine, in TF 4.3 sounds are porked.

Hi Heinkill,

thank you for reporting this bug! To faciliate and organize bug reports, we have established a bugtracker here at http://tfbt.nuvturais.de. May I kindly ask you to check if this bug has already been reported there and if not, to create a new issue with this bug? And, if you haven't done so already, please do read the guidelines here first: http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/projects/il2clodtf/boards/4.

It would be great if you could provide (and link in the bugtracker) two tracks demonstrating the difference between 1.11.20362 (last patch from Maddox) and the TF 4.30 patch. Furthermore, are there any differences between 1.11.20362 and TF 3.0 / TF 4.0?

Lastly, please include a link back to this thread in the bugtracker, so that the discussion can continue here.

Thank you very much,

A workaround, play with G-50 only "Full Real". Be sure. :)

I notice that sometimes the MG sound alter too - loose bass.

Here is a video from the last vanilla patch from a refresh steam download. I've shown the Spitfire and fired its guns so that there is no question that it is from that patch.

As you can see, the problem is there at high RPM's as reported and when using prop pitch. The original developer forgot to crossfade the sounds properly and left a gap which is why a part of the sound is missing. It will be fixed for TF5.

We did add bass to the guns although I'm not sure why this would happen.

Thanks for letting us know.
