I don't know how many of you have investigated SEOW (Scorched Earth Online War) - the online apex of IL2 , but the community has lost one of the "Old Guard" of SEOW.
Peter Millar , who I knew as II/JG77Hawk_5 passed away due to complications of lung cancer today. He was 48.

I have not known Hawk5 for long , but he was a welcoming friend , a humourous cohort , and a generous and patient teacher.
He was a true team player in every sense that that implies.
Were it not for others telling me , I would have had no idea he was seriously ill.

If any of you out there knew Hawk5 , please pass on any condolences via Teamspeak at SEOWHQ.

They would be appreciated.

And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ”

Sorry to hear this.

Always sad to lose a member of the community, especially one as friendly and positive as this one.

High Flight

"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds -
and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -
wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

"Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of God."
