Hi all,

Storm of War server will be running a test of my new mission tonight at 19.30 UK Time. You're more than welcome to come and join us, squad and lonewolf alike. Join the Storm of War comms for your sorties. 85.236.100.85:20587 password sow

Features include but not limited to:
Limited Aircraft Numbers and resupply,
AI Bomber formations
RDF, Blue Bomber finder and other custom TAB 4 menu options
Historical Targets in their real locations (Or as close as can be done in CloD!)
Mission Persistence. Lose an aircraft and it stays lost even when the mission restarts.

I can't promise that there will be no bugs, I have an issue at the moment with something in fact but there should be no deal breakers. Being on the Storm of War server it will also benefit from their detailed stat system but it is not implemented just yet.

And I've just added the London Raids mission to the server rotation on Storm of War, with the AI raids dynamic scaling increased back up to 27 aircraft for large numbers of players.

Thanks to those who took part in the first test. I am sorry that there was a hiccup on the server about 10-15mins in on the first run. We lost a few guys then which was a shame but to be expected I guess. Unfortunately Steam was causing some issues. :(

The server ran for 2 hours after that successfully, we had a few scraps and tested the core of the script pretty well. There will be another test at some point next week. I need to update a few bits and bobs but in the main there were few bugs which is good. :)

I'm really sorry I missed this one - RL intervened last night. I'm so curious as to what's afoot, so I'm glad it more or less went OK.

Nice mission yesterday evening.

Some remarks and questions:
1. It would be nice to have a way knowing the current target right after connecting to the server (not having to spawn a plane first)
2. It would be nice to get the exact coordinates after requesting the "current target" via radio menu. The electricity plant at Southampton was not really visible from high-alt (no dark dots).
3. If a target is destroyed might the next one be located on a completely different section of the map? I am asking because it might be frustrating (especially for bombers) to get to know already half-way that they do not have enough fuel left for the new target.
4. To have no Jabos and Zerstörer available means having only "real" bomber pilots being able to destroy the targets. The Stuka often might not be an option due its slow speed.

Thanks DUI, and JG4 for their help.

1) I'm not sure how I can accomplish this. I will give it some thought though.

2) yes, the coordinates should have been in the message. Sorry!

3) good point. There are targets all over the map and indeed it could be Southampton, then manston, then London etc. I'll give it some thought. I have to be honest that I was hoping that this map would get blues to be more organised and launch a big raid, rather than solo attempts. Doing so will likely fail and let the reeds know what they have to defend.

4) the 110's should have had bombs, that was my mistake. But many of the targets are too big to take out with a single plane (I hope)

What is the latest on this Reddog?

We'll probably try to have a test session over this weekend, instead of the Storm of War campaign. Regardless, I think it'll be going onto the storm of war rotation soonish now we have a new rotation tool.

OK, I'm going to run 2 full length test sessions on Sunday. One at 10am UK time and one at 5pm UK Time (in the campaign slot which is taking a pause for the Easter holiday).

All pilots are invited to join in.

Edit. To be clear, this will be held on the Storm of War server, and I'd recommend using the SoW TS to coordinate.

Is this a new public server mission ie just turn up and jump in any time? 56 have one of their squad nights on Sunday but not until 20:00 GMT so is it worth me trying to steer them your way or will it be closed by then?

56 will be more than welcome. It's intended to be a public server mission once it passes testing. There will be AI (and hopefully) human players. It's not a campaign session so no predefined "slots", just turn up, jump on comms and join the action.

Thanks to those who popped by. Looks like the mission is working ok, with a few minor hiccups which I'll try to iron out.

Looks like it's certainly not a map for lone wolfs or the instant gratification types, 5 ju88's, a 110 and 2 109 escorts on an hour + sortie and we still managed not to destroy the target at Brooklands. Had some great fun shooting each other from the gunner positions though lol.

With coordinated players this can be a very immersive set of public missions. It was fun even gettin shot in the face by a mg42. Was the AI restricted? Didnt see many enemy ai.

The AI were on a long timer, I manually spawned a few raids in which hit the same current target as we were going for. Although with me using the admin menu to close targets off at will, some of the raids no doubt flew to old targets which is just the way of it. We did see 1 AI raid high up at Manston but nothing else.

Any feedback from any players who might have popped onto the SoW server over the past week. We inadvertently left the mission as the only one in the rotation for 5 days.

Im playing your mission right now Reddog but the radar finds no contacts. Are AI bomners enabled yet?
For the rest it looks and feels amazing! A proper BOB scenario finally!

Is this available to fly tonight ? (EST, ~ 9pm ish)

SoW Reddog
Apr-25-2014, 16:23
It looks like someone's put it back in the rotation so yes Recon, it should be on.

Unfortunately it's clear that the AI spawning is waaaay too infrequent when there's few players about, and so I need to do some tweaking of that but won't get time to do it today.
