Great info - Stickied!
It's really sad to see some people are dumping their kickstarter pledge and going to paypal just to alter their rewards and save on the international postage!
I know we belong to a wide and diverse community, but to me it feels like a pretty low sort of act! Any money they save from postage will come directly out of the kickstarter funds intended for development of the sim.
Makes you wonder! Personally, I wouldn't get any satisfaction from working the system like that. ( Of course that's maybe why I drive around in a rusty old piece of shite! :) )
I think it's good since any way to get there is helpful.
What might be considered is a system of monthly debits such as some of us do to support our squads/TS/servers. Just a monthly automatic sum that one feels commited to pledge. It's easier than a or another lump sum and is a way to keep the water boiling as the project progresses. Just a thought.
Is the money risen through Paypal shown in the Kickstarter total amount? EDIT: no, it is accounted separately (by now 7:00 CET today total is near 140K, being about 2700 from Paypal)
Will the funding in DCS webpage continue after KS stops tomorrow?
If you read the current paypal page way down at the bottom it actually says that the postage is factored into the charge.
My comments was based on the people skiting on the kickstarter forum saying that they had withdrawn their kickstarter pledge and had gone through the paypal payment option (which was of a lesser amount) to avoid paying the additional $12USD international postage charge.Quote:
How much is the shipping?
Domestic or international shipping is included and averaged out in each reward tier.
For international users, all physical extras will be shipped in a single package, at the time when the last ordered item becomes available.
For domestic users, we will do a maximum of two packages, in case you select one item available this year, and another item available next fall.
I think, especially the couple that were changing for the lower levels, they've missed out on their original tier where they actually had a physical object being sent out to them to completely digital package.
Some times you can be a bit too "Clever"!
I see, I agree, it is unfair that one can be paying the postage through one way and not through the other.
But on the other side, I have noticed taht the KS page misses also to say at the 80$ pledge any cost of postage, even when it offers "any 2 rewards" (not specifying if physical or digital)
Anyhow, albeit this is a very promising project what any Flight Sim fan should support, the pledge, rewards and paying system stated is as clear as mud !
:)
Update from Eagle Dynamics forum:
"When will you stop accepting PayPal?
When we reach our 150K combined goal via the two sources."
So Paypal option will go on open after ending the KS date tomorrow, till funding 150 K$. So it seems "Der Schawalbe" is by the corner!
$143,188.82 combined amount by now ! (18h CET)
Is the option to join this effort now closed?
The website DCS WWII says this program has been "successfully funded" with no visible paypal option-
Can I still pre-order or???
Thank you-
