EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
Attachment 50206
Hi All,
This weekend's event see's a return to the Desert Wings Tobruk map!!
This is our first event showcasing and encouraging players to take part in ground attack sorties.
TFS's 69th Spiritus's recent addition to the Team Fusion Server 3 missions, the outstanding Operation Mirror, will be the setting for this weekends event.
This mission has a large amount of ground attack targets and plenty of anti aircraft defence units doing everything they can to stop you hitting your target.
Many players no doubt will be going in search of two well known opposing Generals, last seen somewhere in the map. :)
Full mission briefings for both Blue and Red teams, can be found in the link below.
https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...ad.php?t=34250
TFS's Pattle will be livestreaming the event on our YouTube channel, featuring ground attack sorties from both sides.
Our event regularly regularly reach full player capacity, so encourage everyone to jump in as soon as the map is up.
Hope to see you all there.
TFS Team

I heard rumors that Rommel has taken JG52s Staffelkübelwagen and Meyer has volunteered to be his chauffeur.
So no worries Snapper, just hunt the Kübelwagen down but don’t forget to close your eyes when attacking, my top secret source says they try to camouflage their real identity by wearing speedos whaa

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
Hi All,
Here's our Livestream for those who cannot join.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMW6...ature=youtu.be
Also, don't forget to check out Flares Livestream of the event too!
Also, I have received some pretty solid intel from a couple of questionable characters. Marlow and Knighty have asked to remain anonymous, so wont mention them.. There is a Royal Navy Battleship somewhere off the coast smashing Blue targets, threatening to win the map.
This must be stopped early and at all costs.
Calling all torpedo , level and dive bomber and scout planes pilots to seek out this ship and destroy it!!!
Cheers,
Pattle

Queen Elizabeth with its gunners? The best in the RN! Not getting any close to that monster, since it’s shot me up and my squad mates a few times just by being around it at medium altitude :-)

Well, I could not join tonight.
First attempt to join the TFS #3 server I was kicked out to desktop. I think I joined when the server was restarting.
Impossible to join after that. The server refused all my connection attempts with the below message:
Attachment 50237
Tried everything:
- quit game and restart
- quit steam and restart
- logout from steam then login again
- rebooted PC
Impossible to join.
I could join all other servers though, so I assume the issue was at the server side. I could join all other servers no problem.
I guess I have to wait until the map flips and the server restart.
I'll follow on livestream

I have had this issue before, basically you are still on the server when you are not, thus the server does not allow you to connect twice and refuses your connection.
What you could do is changing temporaly a character of your steam username and join.

Nope. Tried to add an underscore at the end of my name:
Attachment 50238
Still same error message. I think Steams check you by your Steam ID not your name to display...
This happened to me before a couple of time, but I could still see my name on the list of players, and usually this would time out after a while. This time I do no see myself in the server...

Thanks to everyone who either played or watched our Livestream.
We had 90+ players on at one point and averaged over 80 through the whole event!!:)
Great stuff, and a huge amount of action!

Good stuff today. Thanks to the organisers. No issues for me other than a bit of lag once or twice... and getting bounced once (user error that one)!
Look forward to watching various perspectives on the streamed videos. Congrats to the Team Fusion crew. These events are a real success. Keep 'em coming!

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
Sadly my stream didn't go so well, I was having horrible stuttering issues which I've never had before and streaming to just 3 viewers.
Still managed to hit a battleship though so that was fun! But I died LOTS and even bombed some friendly trucks!
Sometimes it just doesn't go your way. Better luck next time!

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
Well I tried to be there. I managed to log in, but my first few takeoff attempts were complete garbage. It kept pulling heavily to the left, and as I was almost up to speed it would nose into the ground. I respawned again and checked my wheel brakes. The worked normal at first, but the second I would apply rudder in either direction the left brake would go fully down. I suspected a keybind issue, so I rebound my pedals and toe brakes. It still kept happening... restart the computer, try again, same problem. So I quit the game, check my windows controller settings and sure enough, as soon as my rudder pedals go in any direction the left toe spikes. Sorry for cluttering coms with questions, I thought it was the game at first.
Well I suspected a bad pot. I use the Saitek Combat Pedals, so I start trying to take apart the left toe. I get that done, and fully take the pot out and it's still having the same issue. As long as the pedals are centered the pot works perfectly, even turning by hand so I start to suspect it's not that, and I keep tearing the pedals apart. Once I finally had them pretty much fully disassembled I still can't see anything wrong, so I plug them in and now the left toe is fully down ALL THE TIME. At this point I see that one of the wires for the left toe brake has broken right at the pivot point, and was well hidden from view at first until it finally popped out of a piece of tape and is just hanging out in the air. Ugh. So I pull everything apart more to give myself room to work, feed some slack back on that cable, and borrow a soldering gun from my old man. Sounds easy right? Nope! The first head of the soldering gun breaks. Not a problem, I have a spare! Put that in and it almost instantly breaks too. At this point it's getting really tempting to get some gasoline and a match... But I make sure to scrape any varnish and failed solder off of the cables, and it turns out they are braided, but very small. My last soldering head doesn't work well, so I pull the strands of the cables apart on both sides, mash them together and try to twist them up a bunch as best I can but they don't twist well at all. Finally I get some pliers to mash them together and bend the ends over together, and attempt to get a bit of solder in there. Finally I think they are somewhat together. It's not pretty, but they seem together so I quick plug the mostly disassembled pedals back in and carefully test every axis and they all work! Well, time to wrap the whole connected bit of that cable in electrical tape, then attempt to put them back together. I do a small step and a time, plug it in, test, and keep going. Needless to say I finally have my pedals back and working, but it took most of the day and a lot of work. These Saitek pedals are pretty cheaply made, but then again I've had this set for years now.
Anyways, that's all a long way of saying... WHEN'S THE NEXT EVENT? I should at least be able to get airborne next time!

That’s part of what I tried, on two different servers. No joy.

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
A server reset seems to have done the trick.
This morning I checked in again. Operation Mirror was running. Tried to join and had no problem this time.
Looks like yesterday I had joined at that bad split second when the server was restarting, which led it to believe I was in while I was not...
Maybe a script "emptying" the list of logged-in users at each server restart could prevent this rare but still occurring issue from happening again?
At least I could follow the event on Livestream. Whoever plane I was following is a far better shot than me, so it was satisfying to see more bullets hit target than usual... Looks like I'm gonna have to train and train and train even more.
Great event, even from the spectator seat

This was a lot of fun.
And most of it was from listening on TS.
The plain around Menastir must have een littered with lost wings ... :-)

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
[QUOTE=ATAG_Headshot;365668] It kept pulling heavily to the left, and as I was almost up to speed it would nose into the ground.
I had a similiar experience a few times, I flew on the darkside in a bf109, and died a couple of times taking off, with the aircraft rolling left into the turf as headshot described. it felt like rudder trim that could not be adjusted. It could of course be my lack of practice in the BF109.
Great event, Had a lot of fun :)

Can confirm this, happened to a friend as well as me with Beaufighters last week.
Everything went well, after re-spawning in the same place and in the same type of ac.

Sorry for the trouble you had, Noofy. This is good feedback. I started Operation Mirror very quickly so as not to lose too many players from the previous map. I can control the length of pause between the two maps (one ending, the next beginning) so next time I will give it a little longer between the two. Hopefully that will avoid the “authentification error” from happening to someone else in future.
:salute:

Re: EVENT - Operation Mirror - Saturday 17 Oct, 1930 GMT
Excellent event, many thanks to all TFS for organising these as it is really entertaining and fun.
Managed to stay out of trouble(except one bounce) and not get too lost and eventual fur ball around Bardia was intense.
Really like the desert graphics and appreciate all the updates.
Had to leave the party early because of hardware failure (and bingo fuel) but did anyone find the desert fox?
Just loving this sim again:thumbsup:
