Operation London Bridge tribute flypast

Briefing:
Operation London Bridge
In tribute to the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, a low level flypast will be conducted from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace.
All pilots will join the Red side and fly as RAF. Ground spawns and one air spawn are at the Isle of Wight.
A slow flight of Sunderland flying boats will have their path shown on the map, from the Isle of Wight to Windsor Castle, then on to Buckingham Palace.
Plane set:
Bf 109 E-4
Bf 110 C-4/B
Blenheim IVF
G.50
He 111 P-2
Hurricane l (Rotol 100oct)
Ju 88 A-1
Spitfire la (100oct)
There are four spawn points:
1) RAF Ryde
2) RAF Bembridge
3) RAF Sandown
4) Airspawn just east of Sandown
To guide us to Buckingham Palace the Sunderland flying boats will be spawning in at the southern tip of the Isle of Wight and flying over the three airfields. Their airspeed will be 310 kmh (193 mph) IAS and they will be flying at 500 m ASL.
It is hoped that individual squads will coordinate with each other to present an orderly procession for the segment from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace. For those aircraft equipped with radio compasses, there are two long range radio beacons located as follows:
306khz - Windsor Castle
309khz - Buckingham Palace
Once you have completed the flypast, you may follow the Sunderlands east along the Thames River to the Channel and continue to your chosen airfield in England or France. Alternatively, you may circle back to Windsor, re-enter the flypast stream, and repeat the flypast over Buckingham Palace once again.
Thanks to everyone for participating!
God Bless Her Majesty The Queen; Long Live His Majesty The King

Re: Operation London Bridge tribute flypast
Fab planning. Sadly I'm away again this weekend so can't join in the tribute to Her Majesty. I'll be home in time to watch the funeral though.
Good luck all.

Thanks, Daz. Won’t be the same without you, but I will waggle my Hurricane’s wings over Buckingham Palace in your honour. Watch for it in subsequent videos.
Cheers,
Snap :salute:
Re: Operation London Bridge tribute flypast
What a brilliant idea and what a superb vid it will make!
But I'm devastated to say that I am still in Aix en Provence, France......visiting as many haylofts as the wife will allow.....and won't be back in Blighty until September 25th. So I'm missing the fly past and the funeral!
French Tv is rammed with info about the lying in state (my brother and sister filed passed yesterday after a 13 hour queuing over night) it's wall to wall coverage on many channels, almost as if the French claimed the Queen for their own!
Unfortunately, we will be in a spot with no wifi on September 19th so won't be able to watch the funeral on the net. Watching these great events at a later date is never quite the same.
As Daz says, fantastic planning for the Flypast.....and we will both be there in spirit. You'll recognise me....I'll be the virtual Welly with it's undercart down (Thought I'd get that one in before Daz does!)
Have fun, guys, and give a big 'salute' from me. Salute.
Re: Operation London Bridge tribute flypast
Great idea for ATAG to pay its respects, count me in.
If no Welli available happy to strap into Blennie.

Re: Operation London Bridge tribute flypast
Unfortunately, no Wellies. :(
We wanted to keep the plane set to Blitz so everyone can join in.

Re: Operation London Bridge tribute flypast
Excellent fun outing and a good way to celebrate HM rein.
Privilege to be able to fly in mixed red/blue aircraft company for the event and with so many pilot nationalities represented.
Big thanks to Snapper and Oscar for organising/writing.
O my those Sunderlands were slow.
:salute:

Many thanks for posting vids Snapper and Bonditaria.
Impressive flying UNDER the bridge as I only had the nerve to take my Blennie though the middle!

lovely flying and tribute, but I would suggest put this under the main site where people dont have to be logged in to see them.
Where else do you get to fly this, what combat sim has London, much less parliament, tower bridge and the palace

Excellent suggestion, Stickz!
TBH, I didn't realize that this Upcoming Events forum was restricted to registered forum members. After all, we want EVERYONE to know about our upcoming events - it may even get unregistered guests to actually get registered to see what else they're missing!
A couple of mouse clicks and this Upcoming ATAG Events forum is now open to the general public. :D
Thanks, Stickz!
