here is a list of Battle of Britain airfields

    Hi to you mission builders,

below is a document I have that lists all the airfields involved in the BOB. Probably old news for most of you but, may be useful to someone interested in the more obscure airfields involved.

    Cheers,
    Buddy

Good stuff! I'm always on the look-out for more info like this. If nothing else, it helps my grieving over missing, misnamed or plain wrong airfields in CloD to progress. I'm over "anger", but I haven't reached "acceptance" yet.

(Do you happen to have the original source? This is in case more information about airfield layout, runways, etc. You never know...)

very interesting, there was an RAF station where Canterbury is in CloD. RAF Brekesbourne, used by Lysanders during Operation Dynamo, an ex flying club.

    Bekesbourne aerodrome, near Canterbury, Kent

A brief history of the site follows; it was founded in 1916 as an emergency landing ground for WW1 use the site was 98 acres in size. It saw little action during the war, except for some interception attacks on bombers raiding London.

In 1918 the airfield was upgraded with two Belfast Truss GS hangers being built and additional buildings to support the airfield. With a hutted encampment constructed for No 50 Squadron RAF. But with the end of war saw the airfield closed down in 1920.

It then became The Kent Flying Club up until just before WW2 when again the airfield closed.

The airfield reopened briefly in May 1940 operating Lysander aircraft providing reconnaissance missions over France. With the evacuation of Dunkirk completed and the vulnerability of the airfield location it closed again and was never to re-open.

After WW2 it was handed back to the owners of the land, the remaining hanger was used for storage and some of the buildings were converted into private dwellings. Today nothing remains at all, except some of the road names giving a hint of the areas past.
