    Team Fusion Update April 27th 2015 - A little bit of everything

    Okay, well as the title suggests, this weeks video update shows a few of the features TF are working on. I could list everything in the video....but hey....watch the video



    Okay, so now you've watched the video, we were as surprised as you when the Millennium Falcon popped up...but hey, plan for the future, that's what TF say!

    Alright, calm down, that's why I said watch the video and you'll know the above comment was mischievous.....or was it?

    Now, embarrassingly...I have to own up to a mistake on my part and that is that some of the sounds you heard are incorrect (or not the latest version) and so my next update (if our sound editor is still speaking to me) shall include revisions of those effects. I'm not going to.list which they are but some are not the latest version and that's on me......so apologies.....but it means I have something at-least for the next update to show you, although the video further down this post should compensate a little?

    Here is another short video posted by Slipstream showing some more audio work:



    The next update will be a few weeks away so hopefully the amount of content in the video will be enough to keep the community talking for a while. Steadily the sum of all parts are coming together and while testing the mods (and creating them) is sometimes a real pain.....blimey it's cool to see some of the stuff our guys are creating behind the scenes

    As always I'd like to say thanks to Artist for his work on the Bugtracker, news of which he has compiled here:

    From the Team Fusion Bugtracker

    The bugtracker (http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/projects/il2clodtf) keeps accumulating data: Since the last published update on March, 27th, 17 new users brought the total up to 879 registered users of which 89 have been active since then. We currently have 181 open issues (127 bugs and 54 feature requests). 2 have already been resolved with patch 4.312 and 21 are currently in progress to be fixed or implemented.

    6 new issues have been raised since the last update, among them are (no judgment implied):
    • Reported Bug #746: "MG-15 gunner reload time" (New)
    • Reported Bug #745: "Bf 110 Rear Machine Gunner possible Bug" (New)
    • Reported Bug #744: "Calculation for density of the atmosphere decrease with altitude is incorrect" (Confirmed)
    • Reported Bug #743: "Neg. G cutout of planes with carburator" (New)
    • Reported Bug #742: "Bf 109 cooling system" (New)
    • Reported Bug #741: "Fiat G50 pilot movements " (New)


    The issues with the highest (summary) vote currently are:
    • 52: #725: "BF 110 Airspeed" (New)
    • 47: #581: "RAF fighter engines incorrectly start cold in Multiplayer" (New)
    • 41: #614: "Large cloud formations do not appear in replay of track (.TRK) files" (New)
    • 39: #498: "Bf 109: Prop Pitch Inverted" (New)
    • 36: #690: "Bf 109: The Half Armor Plate in upcoming 109 Variants" (New)

    Neat sounds on the spit! The flyby is awesome, it roars like a spit!

    Lovely update Mystic, but on the bofors bit showing the new tracers, it was a bit pixelated... was it on purpose or accident? Overall a great update. Thank you again!

    The pixelation is down to the recoding of the original video. The way this happens is some of the guys work on their effects/features/mods and then share the videos with me. Due to the time I have available I sometimes don't have access to the files to reshoot the video and so I use their original and slot it into the one I am preparing. The original video is stunning but youtube just wont do it justice.....the tracer from the Bofors is glorious in the original....and I only saw the footage this-morning but felt I had to share it.

    Those bofors tracers are the closest to reality I've ever seen in a game. I must admit they bring up some very disturbing memories that I try not to conciously acknowledge.

    My thoughts: The current .303 gun sounds are amazingly close to that of the resurrected Spitfire Browning that was test fired in a field. But I suspect the sound of 8 Brownings hard-mounted in the wings arrayed on each side (estimated) 4 to 8 feet away from the confines of a closed cockpit would sound quite a bit differently. It's a bit difficult to tell with the very short bursts depicted in the video (vs an extended burst for evaluation purposes), but the TF 5 version certainly sounds a bit more "robust" IMHO.

    Yes, I thought the sound was more like cannon too, but I could not see cannons visible on the Spit wing and the damage to the 109 did not look much like cannon fire to me. We seem to have lost the sound like "ripping dry paper" that is reportedly the sound of the machine guns when fired. Seems like we are now hearing more individual rounds with too much space for the extremely rapid firing Spit and Hurry guns.

    Perhaps it is the new sound for the cannons to come, but without showing the cannons visually.

    Its confirmed johson, althought still a bit fps hungry by what i read.

    If not attempted by Team Fusion i would suggest what is done on other games to reduce fps hungriness: Reduce to half the fps on the mirror?

    Very nice!

    Stupid question though... is it me or the Beaufighter seems incredibly slow to accelerate on takeoff? Maybe it's just me... but when I takeoff with a bomb payload on a Blennie I use even less runway than that...

    Chaps, firstly thanks for the feedback.
    The German pilots look grumpy because their new Jumo and other engine sounds (plus more) were not showcased......I mean, come on Mysticpuma is obviously British and biased...I'd cry fowl

    Okay, so here's some information on the mirror. It is a complete workaround and was/is being a real PIA! For those of you who saw the original "Vanilla" game mirror, you'll know it showed a super pixellated image and that it was pointed at 45 (ish) degrees away from the aircraft,so showed nothing behind you and then it looked like a low resolution image from Minecraft!

    So the current fix for the mirror now shows what is behind the aircraft but to save fps, it only renders every 3rd frame. It does look a little jittery.....but.....as we try and make a compromise between no mirror and the severely hit fps (as the game is rendering what you see twice) the 'render every third frame in the mirror' seems to be a fair compromise.

    There is obviously lots of other features showcased in the video.....but apologies again for some of the sounds not being the latest version.......but the Beaufighter certainly is the latest version as it came directly from our sound editor

    Hi Chuck, the new FM's are being worked on....this is just a testbed aircraft so we can break it a lot to make it work perfectly

    Also, the slow take-off lets you hear the beautiful engines for much longer

    Sounds off to me Snapper. 8 x mg at 120 to 150 rounds per second should sound more like "blowing a raspberry" LOL,

    In the clip, the Spit guns do not sound like they are firing much faster that the much, much, slower firing Bf 109.
