    WWII beauties for the cockpit.

I've put together photos to take with you into war so you don't feel so lonely on those long treks with an indefinite outcome. These are mounted at the front of the cockpit alongside the gauges. To use download the compressed zip file here, copy one of the picture files e.g. JeanHarlow.tga and post here:

Under Softclub files - My Documents/ 1C Softclub/ il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD/ Dashpics/ Selected. Right click on file name and change to 1.tga

When you restart game it should now show the picture. If there is another 1.tga file already there move this to the desktop if you wish to keep it and put in your new one instead. I am not sure about different pictures for different planes or rotating the picture for each flight etc. I have only ever done one photo at a time.

Heartwarming stuff, and for all you romantic guys out there put in your loved ones' photo and get hoisted really high for your efforts. Enjoy it gentlemen!

    * All photos have been digitally resized, recoloured, and cleaned to get best results.

Thanks, I may have dealt myself a blow because now that I've created a "New SweetFX settings" which is darker but good contrast the pictures look darker also. So I may need to also do a lighter set to go with my new colour setup.

    Great stuff Markie -thank you!

But you don't need to copy the pic to two places, just the no 2 in your post (My Documents/ 1C Softclub/ il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/ MOD/ Dashpics/ Selected/)

    Cheers/m

You missed out including the two most beautiful women of the WWII era:

    Ingrid Bergman:

    Vivien Leigh:

What was I thinking!?! Quite right and this is the place to say it, that's what I want. Very heavy American representation here, I would like to see many German icons from WWII also and will seek out more. For now I have taken this advice and will include another set in the next few days to be downloaded with the first. Obviously I will always miss a favourite but this is a reasonable start I believe - especially as I did not live during this era and am going off information I find.

Re: WWII beauties for the cockpit.

On this Wikipedia page you will find a lot of popular German actresses during the time of National Socialism (and if needed earlier and later). Obviously, by far not all starlets but maybe you find some beauties for your collection.

Edit: Some more real starlets of that time:
    Marlene Dietrich
    Greta Garbo
    Zarah Leander
    Marika Rökk
    Ilse Werner
    Olga Tschechowa
    Lil Dagover
    Renate Müller

Much appreciated, thanks. Just finished another set to add to originals. Will look further afield to English and other nationalities also. I'm sure scandanavian beauties etc. were popular then as they are now too. For those wanting to do their own set or to put their loved one in the cockpit with them while flying there is a very good tutorial within this site to do so, just type in something like "Dashpics" in search bar.

Re: WWII beauties for the cockpit.

Sorry to hear it is not working for you. I'll rephrase and maybe it sheds some light. As I understand it at the moment you can only put one picture into the appropriate file that is then shown in all planes. Ideally of course it would be great to have a different photo in each plane with German planes displaying axis idols and English planes displaying allied idols. I haven't played too heavily with this and there could be a way to do this - someone may know the answer to this and wishes to comment or give advice.

The file is downloaded from first post above e.g.(Idols3.rar) and uncompressed and you pick the one photo you wish to display from the set presented. The file name e.g. VivienLeigh.tga is changed by right clicking and renaming - 1.tga

This then goes into the "Selected" folder, a subfolder of the "1C" folder. I find this by going to the search bar and typing "1C." I have Windows 7 and this is by clicking windows icon bottom left of desktop. After this we go through as stated above the various folders until we get to "Selected" folder and place it in that. Should then work after a restart of game. Make sure there is no conflicting "1.tga" file already there - if so move that one away to the desktop or elsewhere. Hope this helps.

    Markie,

this is possible for us to implement and maybe something we can consider for TF5. For now we decided to keep things as simple as possible

Re: WWII beauties for the cockpit.

Thanks for the information Mattias, there is hope on the horizon for different models in different planes which I am looking forward to. I have made up a new set comprising some German starlets. I have tried hard to get a good range together. The next set may be a random one of models from various countries during WWII to make it interesting.

Re: WWII beauties for the cockpit.

Ten sets of photos for the cockpits, 142 beauties from the WWII era to choose from and a welcome change from war and weather travelling to and fro. Hope you enjoy and send comments. Please recommend to others and encourage further improvements from the community for this incredibly detailed simulation. In case you are curious I do not live in England, USA, Germany, or Italy so these sets are supposed to represent a good mixture of idols from these countries and I have tried to be unbiased and go on information I have found. Would be great to see others come forward with their own.

Done one of Kirsten Heiberg already. She is the second model in the second set of ten I've done. Not sure about one of Eva Braun, could be awkward or contentious for some people. With the number I've presented it would be a very picky man indeed to not find at least a dozen to smile deliriously about whilst flying solo.

Re: WWII beauties for the cockpit.

I cannot see a logical link between having a larger monitor and losing the dashpic if there is one still in the folder. There must be information missing in this story. I will think more about it and if you could go through the posts too to see if the dashpic is in the right folder and correctly named. If a comma, fullstop or a single letter is wrong it will not be recognised and won't be seen. Good luck.
