    What Headset Do You Use..?

Let us know what headset you use and what its pros and cons are for those of us that are looking into getting some...

Provide a pic if you have the time...

    Thanks folks

I use a Logitech H390....But I am working on getting a David Clark PC Headset when I become a millionaire...

Pros - Pretty durable, Sound is good (although I am no expert), Cable is chunky and USB look top quality, inexpensive and basic, has an on/off switch on the earpiece which is very good and I use a lot...

Cons - The fake leather deteriorates after a couple years and leaves you with material...No biggy...but don't get to liking the leatherette as its not there permanently...has a couple of settings on the earpiece, one for music and one for speech although I haven't figured out the difference yet...

    The cheapest I could find.
    PROS:
When they get damaged (typically the padded stuff or the cable breaks) they are cheaper to replace.

You need a good soundcard to drive them though.

Re: What Headset Do You Use..?

Sennheiser PC 350 had them for four years and they are as good as new but for some wear on the earpads.

    Pros:
    superb sound quality,
    lightweight feel,
extremely comfortable even during sessions lasting hours,
    outside sounds are cancelled out,
the inbuilt microphone means my voice comms are crystal clear to listen to (I am assured by other gamers),
    collapsible design for easy transportation,
look good with no hideous 'gaming' flashy nonsense,
Excellent value for money given their sound construction and reliability.

    Cons:
Price: but the quality and performance justifies the price. (As the old gypsy warning goes 'buy cheap buy twice').

piccies and other nerdy details here http://en-us.sennheiser.com/professi...llation-pc-350

    Razer Tiamat
I have no picture but here the link http://www.razerzone.com/gb-en/gamin...azer-tiamat-71

I have only good things to say about them, they have a big ear cup fot my big ears to fit inside for those long sessions, the sound quality that imitate 7.1 is not bad at all. I wont use those to produce music but as for gaming they are perfect.

Re: What Headset Do You Use..?

These super-cheap Logitech ones. The H390. They cost $25. They're probably super bad but I don't know what I'm missing so it's okay My only gripe is that they're USB so sometimes a pain to get to work when I plug them in cause I have regular analog speakers as well.

    PROS:
    Cheap
    Compact
Has mic mute button and volume control that actually changes the volume on Windows.
If you've never tried good ones you'll think these are good.

    CONS:
Bad sound quality compared to fancy ones like you guys have.
    USB connection.

    Creative Fatality.

    Pros:
    Cheap (£25)
    Work fine

    Cons:
No idea: the first pair I have ever owned.

Logitech G430 here. Got them cheapo, have mic, sound good, and some electrical tape holds my freetrack clip right on them! (which is also held together by electricians tape - yes it's homemade, despite it's factory-built appearance) Gotta love electrical tape.

These are what I'm using, too. The TrackIR Pro Clip attaches on fine. The little USB "soundcard" that emulates 7.1 sound works quite well for what it is. Reasonably comfortable for long sessions.

Not bad with the Logitech 430 -- lots of foam around the ear cup.

Not to hijack this thread but a hint for bifocal wearers: if you use TrackIR go to your eye doctor and ask for a cheap pair of single-prescription "computer glasses". Made a HUGE difference for me in spotting contacts. When you tilt your head constantly as you pan around you will be looking at the monitor through different angles of your bifocals. Frequently the screen will be out-of-focus just when you're trying to spot a tiny dot against terrain clutter. Single prescription glasses will keep the screen in sharp focus continuously, no matter what weird angle you're tilting your head at. Tell the dispensing optician to forget about the expensive coatings and designer frames. Besides, why bother to look cool when wearing TrackIR antlers?

I use a logitech G930 and Iam quite satisfied with it.It is comfortable to wear, for games, skype and watching movies the sound is good enough. For listening to music I should not choose this one.The software has a equalizer in it, but it doesn't make the music sound any better.
This headset has three programmable buttons, if the battery runs empty you can charge it without loosing connection. You get a very long mini-usb cable to charge it, this cable doesn't transport any audio-signal.One thing what is realy, realy and I mean realy irritating, no one in my house can use the micro-wave without me knowing because of the distortion on the signal of my headset. But still there are more things about this headset I like then I dislike.
I don't know for sure what I paid for it,I believe €130,00, but I see prices now of €100,00-€200,00.

Re: What Headset Do You Use..?

    I got these: http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Ga.../dp/B0038W0OIK

    Pros:

wide frequency spectrum ranging just beyond human ear limits on both bass and treble ends ~18Hz to ~25kHz (or so I think)
excellent power for enough "oomph" so you don't feel like you'd "want" it any louder
works both with the included USB dongle or directly from your sound jack
wire is long enough even for the more "creatively built" setups like mine
two sets of interchangeable ear muffs, one more leather-ey and another more spongey - providing different feel and sound experience to suit your needs
the cable "reverts" to a standard stereo p2 between the USB dongle and the USB-like jack on the headset, allowing you to wire a Buttkicker device and/or plug directly to the sound card
mic is built in and retracts back into the left earpiece for when you don't need it
TrackClip Pro attaches like a glove to the area between the head-size extender and the padded overhead band
cheap as dirt, for the great value it is
comfortable enough to forget you're wearing it, yet firm enough to provide good TrackIR centering reliability

    Cons:

my original cable broke, and it did on the USB-like section leading up to the headset - it became unusable, but led to another unforeseen "Pro" - their tech support is great, and they shipped me a new cable free of charge, with little to no questions asked - it never broke since (suspect they fixed the underlying weak spot)

it "buzzes" (albeit faintly) in protest when the output is set above 16 bit (only available if you plug straight into the soundcard) - sound quality is far better at 16bit - still, I have never noticed any audible disadvantage to that over 24bit... and I got a pretty picky ear, having been a musician for the last decade and a half...

they no longer seem to make these, so grab them before you can't find new ones out there...
Rule of thumb: Every '109 has a wingman...

I have the Sennheiser G4ME Zero

    It makes my ears orgasm.

Good, comfortable headset with great sound quality.

The only downside to this series is you need an amplifier if you want good volume. Some sound cards might already have this. I bought a Soundblaster Z, which does the trick. Great audio. Great mic.

I also have one of these, but I kept running into problems with separate mics and had a lot of complaints from buddies on TS, so I went with the Sennheiser. Still have it, it's a good headseat. I even dropped my warthog joystick in it and smashed in one of the ear cups. It didn't affect the internals at all. It still sounds great. It has the same amplifier need as the Sennheiser. It is also far cheaper.

It is a great sounding headset, but I am not a fan of the open ear headsets, which is the reason I got the Sennheiser Zero instead of the One

The other headset I have is "Beats by Dr. Dre"

Amazing bass. It gave an amazing, deep sound to explosions.. I had these for a few years. Great headphones. The only downside I've had is the 'white out' noise is sensative. I would get a 'humm' when things were silent because of electric interference. That is mostly due to my computer setup needing a very long headphone cord.

The downside is that internally they are fragile (newer models might be better). Also, it requires batteries (not cordless, just battery powered).

Thanks for that info. I wear bifocals, and have been struggling trying to locate contacts.
