Everything War flops Lew. Unless Tom Hanks and Matt Damon are in it. Even Brad Pitt failed. There should be a law that dictates that a sliding scale of profits from sequels should be used to fund at least 1 AAA rated historic war film every 5 years. The scale of duty is assessed by a panel of film critics and based upon the reliance of the sequel's appeal on the single joke or contrivance that made the first film a success. The greater the reliance, the greater the levy......

Did you know.... some points are really interesting about the movie.

P.s. Point 5., about the ammunition. Can it be true? Can not imagine that.

    This looks VERY promising.

As we all know, CGI graphics can be a godsend for producing films involving rare WW2 aircraft. My only hope is that the film makers can avoid the temptation of overdoing the aircraft maneuvres. It may increase the "Ooooh! - value" for unknowledgeable viewers, but will wreck the immersion for those familiar (even if only virtually) with this genre of warplanes.

    Fingers crossed!

They even had Theo Osterkamp in that movie, or an actor playing him at the lunch table.

Can't wait for that level of CGI becomes the norm in gaming/sims.

    I give it 5-10 years.

Well, that's actually not true. The Longest Day saved Twentieth Century Fox. The studio was in trouble, and the movie made so much money that it put them back into the black ink again. Tora Tora Tora was a success, too. Patton was a huge hit and won George C. Scott an Oscar. I think Pearl Harbor made a bundle, also. I'm sure there are plenty of others if I started to Google them.

Im sure this same Japanese fella made another great cgi short clip depicting a mustang fighting a Zero or some other late war japanese fighter over Japan during the massive B26 raids. Cant for the life of me find it.

Your right there Pooch and Im wrong. I was gonna argue about the predominantly American interest in those films but of course Dunkirk went and came along to disprove me on that too!

Yes Dunkirk was great. I agree. One thing no one mentions is the coms over the radio between the pilots. I thought that part was really well done. Almost as good as Pearl Harbor ...HAMMER DOWN!!!

Also for an old film Battle of Britain had many things correct and they go through a lot of steps before the big conflict. Take that boring wife out of there though she's a pain in the butt. Maybe a girlfriend would have been better for James Fox

TBH the girlfriend Christopher Plummer was hanging out with before the war was even worse.

    Good one Boo. lol

Totally forgot Hope and Glory. That comes in at number two for me after The Battle of Britain. A totally different perspective. Everything from an eleven year old boy's point of view and many times very funny. Grandpa is very good.
