    Re: Virtual Cockpit Monitor

Slight bump, figured it was better to ask in an existing thread than create another.

I've had a Raspberry Pi 3 for a while since I figured it would be useful for various things, but in the typical fashion I practically haven't touched it for months let alone find a use for it. So, I figure they way to go forward might be a virtual cockpit, probably for displaying stuff like bombardier settings, radiators and other things that are kind of hard to determine from the pilots seat. If I'm using the RPi I'm guessing the easiest way of transferring info from the PC is over internet (probably the only way).

Would it be possible to output information from the VC program to a physical cockpit gauge or lights driven from the GPIO on the RPi?

    Thanks in advance

EDIT - Just realised that VC Client and server are .exe files, this may complicate matters somewhat

You would need to write a program like the VC client that reads data over the network from server.exe and then writes the correct commands to the gauge or light. Run RD_IL2CloDTF30.exe to see the data available.

BTW does anyone know who wrote VC and where the source code is?

    Yes it is.

Check out the "show us your cockpit" thread.

Somebody ( i forget who) has done exactly that using stepper motors inside real gauges.

    Re: Virtual Cockpit Monitor

Thanks for replying guys - not sure about writing a program, my coding knowledge is fairly rudimentary. That RD_TF3.0 program is impressive in the amount of data you can source from the application, it's quite daunting.

Seas, is the stepper motors driving gauges setup by Nails, the full-scale Hurricane pit? I think he uses Bodnar boards in that, not sure if I can obtain those in NZ.

Guess it might be back to the drawing board on this one...

    Re: Virtual Cockpit Monitor

Virtual Cockpit does not work reliably for me.

I get lots of errors like:

Connect error: Request (code 1) timeout

Occasionally the instruments will appear and update (so it's not a firewall problem - also I can ping the server PC from the remote PC just fine). But the instruments are very laggy, and after a few seconds they will freeze with the following error repeating:

Connect error: Request (code 4) timeout

Has anyone encountered this? Do you know what might be going on?
