Autopilot Mode 22 bouncing up and down

Quick question to all the bomber experts,

In the HE 111, is there a workaround or a reliable way to prevent the nose bouncing up and down when switching autopilot modes from COURSE to MODE 22 ?

I read an old thread which mentioned the same issue with the Blenheim. Is it a bug or am I not using Mode 22 correctly ?

I'd appreciate some tips because I'm starting to enjoy this level bombing business....

Make sure that your trim is set precisely. Go back and forth between mode course and mode 22 until it quits, trimming again when needed. (Meaning if nose is shooting up or a wing when going back to mode course). You can change trim while in mode 22, it just won't change anything until you are back in mode course or out of AP all together.

111 is pretty good at being smooth in 22, with the Blennie unable to get rid of it. BR 20 is the smoothest with 88 coming after the 111. With 88, a touch of flaps will help a lot also and help with not diving so much.

So basically, get it trimmed as close to level flight as possible before selecting Mode 22.

    Thanks, I'll try that.

I can only speak for german bombers: speed is paramount. In the Ju 88 you should have at least 360 km/h on your speedometer before switching to Mode 22. Otherwise the autopilot forces your plane to gain this speed which means you will loose up to 600 to 800 meters of altitude. I love the Ju 88 but its one of the buggiest plane in CloD. I couldn't imagine a real pilot had to speed up his fully loaded Ju 88 to absolute maximum speed in order to switch on the autopilot. (so please my dear friends at TFS - don't forget the old planes over all the new ones in TF 5 and spend my favourite bird an overhaul )
