    BOS purchase question

    Good afternoon, all,

Is there any benefit to purchasing the game from Steam vs the IL-2 Sturmovik website store?

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

    Warmest regards,
    Rob

No real benefit to buy via steam other than downloads and updates may be faster.

There have been a few grumblings on occasion about how slow the official site download can be but I don't think its across the board.

The big thing about buying from the IL2 store is the company doesn't have to pay steam out of the price meaning more bucks go to the ones who are developing the game.

    Thanks so much, Boosterdog!

I'm very new to Steam and only started using it a few months ago so I could play Cliffs of Dover (updated with the TF mods).

    I appreciate the info. Thanks!

    Have a good weekend.

    All my best,
    Rob

Buy it from the devs site. Steam is great but there's no need to give 30% of the game price to them when the devs need all they can get to keep making more releases. You can even buy it from the devs and transfer the key to steam I think (maybe double check this though).

Do not use steam , they are late for every module coming. Everything happends later for those bought through steam . like in DCS . There is no advantage what so ever to use steam version.
You might look into VR postings, I think VIVE support was through Steam, but the new VR support will cover both

No, this option was available for limited time after release for ones that make pre-order of BoS or BoM.

For example, you have pre-order BoM, but this are not available in STEAM before final release, meanwhile you can install the released planes in you BoS, when BoM was released can transfer for STEAM until certain date.

Probable will work in the same way for BoK, but don't know.
