Interesting to see how long he could keep the Spit V inverted without needing to roll back for the engine cut out...Even went negative G for a spell there mid inversion...and when he rolled back the engine picked straight back up again...

Not 100% sure, but I believe he's flying an early Mk VA. (converted from a Spit I)

And this may have a carb with "Miss Schilling's Orifice".

So the early Mk VA weren't cannon armed ? Those other 2 Spits that took off didn't have them assuming they were Mk VAs.

No, first Spit V's (VA) did not have cannon.

They were converted Spit I's... which had been sent back to the factory.

As a matter of fact, some senior RAF pilots argued in favour of adding another four .303's instead of cannon on the Spit V's. (Douglas Bader among them)

The cannon installation was not finalized until late Spring/early Summer '41.
